WYONG
BEST BET
Race 2, No.1: LONIESHA
Is a 14-start maiden but odds-on here for a reason. Skinny race, she looks the one that is most capable of winning.
NEXT BEST
Race 3, No.3: NOSEY PARKER
Trialled well ahead of his eye-catching debut fourth at Scone on July 9. Progressive type with William Pike in the saddle.
VALUE BET
Race 4, No.15: RING AHOY
A Chris Waller-trained colt for the Ingham family who put the writing on the wall for a first-up win after a great recent trial win.
QUADDIE
Race 5: 1,3,6
Race 6: 5,14,15,18
Race 7: 2,3,4,5
Race 8: 3,6,8,10
JOCKEY TO FOLLOW
Jason Collett could be able to get away with the TAB Jockeys Challenge bar any race morning scratchings.
BATHURST
BEST BET
Race 4, No.1: HADOUKEN
Sent out all the right signs when a fast closing fifth at Gosford first-up. Hard to go past here.
NEXT BEST
Race 1, No.6: INESSA
Russian Revolution filly out of a US stakes-winning mare. Impressed in her trial win on July 6 at Warwick Farm.
VALUE BET
Race 5, No.9: PETAIN
Step up to 1400m is a big plus for this son of Commands who has placed twice here over the trip.
THE INSIDE MAIL FOR WYONG
RACE 1
Nullify is closing in on her first win for the Redzel/Mazu team of Triple Crown and Snowden Racing. Has barrier one with William Pike on board which should do the trick. The daughter of Epaulette has raced 12 times for five placings, four of them are seconds. One of those seconds was at this same course and distance. I Am Geronimo is a Chris Waller-trained son of I Am Invincible who has placed at half of his six starts. Was second-up last time he finished second here also over the 1350m. First starter Jumeirah Beach is a son of the bonny mare Vormista. Should run well off the trials.
Bet: Nullify to win
RACE 2
Loniesha has raced 14 times and is yet to win a race but she sent out all the right signs when third at $51 in a maiden at Hawkesbury. The Ron Leemon-trained stablemate to Wednesday’s Warwick Farm winner Naval Warfare went up $1.95 here by virtue of the fact that there really is nowhere else to turn. Gets her big chance to breakthrough. Uninsurabal hasn’t placed in any of her four starts to date but she hasn’t run badly at the last couple up on the Northern Rivers. Sonny needs to lift on his couple but has the advantage of barrier 1 and Winona Costin again.
Bet: Loniesha to win
RACE 3
Nosey Parker shares his name with a pretty handy sprinter of yesteryear. This gelding is trained by Paul Perry who trained both his sire, Choisir, and dam, Ellie’s Gen. Nosey Parker had trialled well ahead of his eye-catching fourth at Scone on debut. Better for the experience and is a progressive style of horse. Adorable Miss has to contend with a wide draw but has done enough at times to warrant serious consideration here. Joe Pride trained Kermadec filly Janosik ran better than it looks on paper when she crossed the line with only two behind her at Hawkesbury.
Bet: Nosey Parker to win
RACE 4
Ring Ahoy is quite a typical son of Sebring, looks wise anyway. The Ingham/Waller gelding makes his NSW debut today having had two runs down in Victoria back in March to open his career. Drawn well for Jason Collett and he was super impressive winning a trial at Warwick Farm on July 15. Stablemate Manzoice is a market watch. The son of Almanzor has looked quite good in his two trials without being fully tested in either. Ryan/Alexiou gelding Emancipist has found the line with considerable gusto in his last couple of 900m heats at Rosehill. Has the talent. Major Beel could take running down.
Bet: Ring Ahoy to win, box First 4: Nos. 2,5,6,10,15
RACE 5
Golden Gate was a $13,000 yearling purchase who has already $25,000 in just two starts. The Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou-trained daughter of Nicconi was an easy three length winner at her first start at Newcastle then put up a decent showing when a distant second at Goulburn after that. Shapes well here. Zeminnika races in the same colours as her Group 1 winning mother, Tycoon Tiara. The Snowden Racing filly ploughed through the slop to win on debut but didn’t handle the ‘10’ at Kembla after that. Spelled and beat Sunborn in a recent trial at Hawkesbury. Was scratched from Warwick Farm on Wednesday. Siyata is handy but not completely sold on her on a Heavy track.
Bet: Golden Gate to win, quinella 3,6
RACE 6
Denetta is an above-average filly trained here by Damien Lane. The replica daughter of Denman has raced five times for three wins and two placings. One thing to note, when she has won, she has looked really good. Just has some barrier issues, on paper at least, but has the talent to overcome. Tock Tick Boom has only won once in his 19 starts but he is never far away. That was the case at Canterbury at his most recent outing and he has a great draw today. Lonhraki has won two out of three starts on Heavy tracks. Pole Position has anything but that with barrier 13 but could come in a few. Real Key ran well over this track/distance last start. Value.
Bet: Denetta to win or if scratched, Tick Tick Boom to win
RACE 7
Buba is a Kim Waugh-trained son of Cox Plate winner Adelaide and has shown a distinct liking for wet tracks. Worth noting that he has raced 10 times on Good tracks for no wins but has three wins and three seconds from his 10 starts on Heavy going. On top of that, Buba has placed in all three runs here at the home track. The Peter Green-trained Sidestep gelding Butch ‘N’ Bugs is a somewhat underrated type. The Hawkesbury housed five-year-old ran a terrific race at Rosehill last start when fifth of 15 behind Monfelicity on the Heavy 9 in the Midway. Star Sparks should get every available opportunity from barrier 1 with Tim Clark to ride.
Bet: Buba to win
RACE 8
Austeja is one of the more interesting runners on the card. This mare is trained by Wayne Wilkes at Taree and has won three of her 10 starts. What makes her so likeable here is that she is unbeaten at her only two starts on Heavy ground and she was hugely impressive winning one day on a 10 at home. Trialled okay at Scone the other day. Reach For Gold is a handsome gelding trained by Jason Coyle who has barely put a foot wrong in his four starts with two wins and two placings. One of those wins was ahead of Dijon who runs here also. Dijon was very good indeed when chasing Alpha One home and beating Reach For Gold by almost five lengths when they met again at Hawkesbury recently.
Bet: Austeja to win
