BEST BET
Race 4, No.10: SUNCRAFT
Locally trained filly whose best of three runs was here at home last preparation. Has more ability than her current C.V suggests.
NEXT BEST
Race 6, No.9: SEETHING CHUCK
All or nothing type galloper, wholly pattern-related, but his only win was first-up and he has trialled well.
VALUE BET
Race 9, No.13: CASINO SILK
Ross Stitt trained filly who broke her maiden here two starts ago. Easy to like it you can forgive her last start failure.

THE INSIDE MAIL FOR TAREE
RACE 1
Rodrick’s Secret has won just three times in his 30 starts but he has placed in nine races. Perhaps the most salient point to make about the Matthew Smith-trained son of Rubick is that all three of his wins have been at the mile. Entitled to run very well in this sort of race. Ditto for Call Me Artie who has a very similar record, numbers-wise, to Rodrick’s Secret and is perfectly tuned for the mile third-up. Local grey Casirina must be in good nick off a first-up win with Kody Nestor up.
Bet: Rodrick’s Secret to win, quinella 3,4
RACE 2
Lady Audrey is a Todd Howlett-trained filly who hasn’t yet won in 11 starts but she has placed three times and has deadset not run a bad one in her six starts since she arrived in NSW from Victoria. Good chance for some reward for effort. Miss Amari has been struggling to make an impression this preparation but she is back to country grade here and it’s not an especially strong line-up. Stablemate Mr Cosmic probably only has to emulate that last start fourth at Newcastle to figure.
Bet: lady Audrey to win
RACE 3
Alegna is an American Pharoah filly whose best run of her three so far was her fourth at Tuncurry where she bumped into American President in a maiden. That’s unlucky. Fast forward to the present and there was a lot to like about her trial win at Gosford. Same goes, almost, for Queen Of Elegance who was runner-up in her 1000m heat on June 3. From a good stable and has more than what she showed on debut on New Year’s Day. Chameleon Choice could be saved for later in the week but goes in big time, if he comes.
Bet: Alegna each-way
RACE 4
Suncraft is a locally trained filly by Fighting Sun with a current C.V of three starts for ‘749’. Be wise to overlook the debut, she wasn’t awful at the last start of the prep but what is important is that her best run was here at Taree in quite a decent maiden. Hopefully she can see out the last bit of the 1257m. All eyes on Oakfield Waratah. This Kristen Buchanan-trained son of Dissident has done more than in his trials to run well, in fact, he is probably the horse to beat. Allan Denham pair Threetimesolucky and Star Of Yamba have claims.
Bet: Suncraft each-way, quinella 3,10
RACE 5
Stars align here for Madiba Rose to post her first win. For starters Kris Lees scratched Princess Peg who would have been a big obstacle for all of these others. Madiba Rose is a local who has placed at both starts here at home. That’s from an overall, career record, of four placings from six outings. Bad luck is her only danger. Mr Eighty Eight is a son of the mighty Tavistock with 11 starts under his belt returning seven seconds and two thirds. Short of his best perhaps but is worthy of inspection nonetheless.
Bet: Madiba Rose to win
RACE 6
Seething Chuck is trained here at Taree by Karen Owen who has lined-up her daughter Madeline to ride. Looking at her form you’d say that Seething Chuck is a bit hot and cold, mostly cold, but it is worth noting that her only win so far came first-up and on top of that, she won a trial at Port Macquarie the other day. My Girona and Mr Tabasco have demonstrated a much higher level of consistency than Seething Chuck and do seem pretty obvious players in this race.
Bet: Seething Chuck each-way
RACE 7
Adamdeeant is a really capable horse on his best day and a lot of those best days have been where he goes around here at his home track. The numbers are very compelling. Take a look at his figures at the track and distance’ 10 starts for two wins, three seconds and a third. Miss Kojiki has been both consistent and costly. Consistent because she has 13 ‘medals’ from 18 starts but costly because only two of them are wins and she is invariably fancied - for good reason. Stariks makes appeal while Khitaamy could be the value.
Bet: Adamdeeant to win, box trifecta 1,5,6,12
RACE 8
Karaoke King has a few other venues he could potentially attend in the next few days but he’ll take some beating if he heads to Taree not just because of barrier 1 but because he is a horse on the up. That win at Scone would have done wonders for his confidence and race craft. Klopp is So You Think gelding who has only won twice in 16 starts but he is a last start winner. Bit of trivia, he was bred by Ian Smith who bred and raised Taree’s greatest equine export - Silent Witness. Up The Stairs gets a chance to win at the 1412m.
Bet: Karaoke King to win
RACE 9
Casino Silk is a Ross Stitt-trained filly who has drawn wide but may come in a few hopefully and has Ben Looker to help out. Casino Silk has only won once in her 11 starts but two things; one it was here and two it was over this trip. Yulong Monoceros has won 5 from 51 but she is back in grade from her Midway run. Placed two from three here and is that mare that you just can’t ever rule out of anything. L’Esperance Rock and Bay of Kotor are both in contention.
Bet: Casino Silk each-way
