LISMORE

BEST BET

Race 2, No.8: COSTA DE ORO

Racy little Pierro filly who should be able to win this off what she has shown in her trials and the first-up run.

NEXT BEST

Race 3, No.2: I’M GUNNA CASHEW

Has a tidy strike-rate, one win and four placings from nine starts. Only win was here.

VALUE BET

Race 5, No.4: AQUARIUS

Headwater filly who has the talent to win provided the wide draw doesn’t deny her.

THE INSIDE MAIL FOR GOULBURN

RACE 1

Noble Legend, a $650,000 yearling knocked down to John Sadler on behalf of Bon Ho, has turned in two commendable performances for trainers Richard and Will Freedman. The last one was at Warwick Farm on a Heavy track behind the handy Waverider Buoy and subsequent winner, Miyoshi. Seany’s Girl is a Tavistock filly out of a granddaughter of the great Alydar. Rovers Pepper wasn’t beaten far in town behind Cotton Fingers last start.

Bet: Noble Legend to win, quinella 1,8

RACE 2

Flyway is a Gerry Harvey-owned and bred gelding trained by Edward Cummings. This son of Star Turn beat Regal Pom home at Hawkesbury on June 20 but was upwards of eight lengths behind the same horse when they met at Wyong. Long story short, barrier 1, the mile (again) and a pretty skinny field all adds up to win. Edgewise is surely the main obstacle for Flyway. She is third-up here off a closing second at Hawkesbury over 1300m. Speedy Song, the Phar Lap relation, can easily figure here.

Bet: Flyway to win

RACE 3

Sebring’s Rose is a very well-bred filly by Sebring, out of a Listed winner named Single Rose. A flashy chestnut she won a Class 2 here on June 17 then was whisked up to Queensland for a dash at the Winx Guineas. Beat one home, long way off the winner, but she is a million times better than that. Lawyer’s Delight is a lightly-raced and handy son of Dundeel. Won his first two this prep, wasn’t awful behind Sebring’s Rose here. Trialled up very well indeed in the interim. Karaoke King ran well in a deep Class 1 on Grafton Cup Day.

Bet: Sebring’s Rose to win, quinella 2,3, box trifecta 2,3,7

RACE 4

Yasamine races in the Vinery colours; she was bred there and grew up in the paddocks adjacent to her amazing father, More Than Ready. Her grandam is none other than Group 1 winner and broodmare gem, Star Satire. As for what counts most here, Yasamine has been here once only and won. Resumes off a great trial. Negation finished like the proverbial steam train when she ran past pretty much all of her 10 rivals from the turn, here, at home on the Heavy 8. Has obvious claims. Samindi, the half to Victorem, has been racing consistently this whole prep for Joe Cleary.

Bet: Yasamine to win

RACE 5

Eastern Glow is a Laurel Oak/Keith Dryden gelding by Your Song and a half to their Highway placed Fangela. You would bet London to a Brick on that Eastern Glow will be in a Highway before too long. They had better hurry up and find one, because he might not stop winning before they can get into one. Ilzoomya was a distant third here first-up for Brad Widdup but you have to give him a tick for the two that beat him namely Nay To Remember and Golden Gate who go pretty well. Outahand is trained at Goulburn which accounts for why all his best numbers are here.

Bet: Eastern Glow to win

RACE 6

Dulcima is a fascinating and inviting runner. For starters, her pedigree; her third dam is none other than Emancipation. You won’t miss her in the run. She is a replica of another close relative in Palace Music; chestnut with a big, baldy face. Bottom line is, she ticks a lot of boxes. Test Of Faith ran two very good races before he went to Hawkesbury and won. He was $51 into $26 that day too so not everyone out there underrated the son of Divine Prophet. Per Ivy and Privatisation are going to have admirers and for good reason. Per Ivy could probably get to the midweeks some time this preparation.

Bet: Dulcima to win

Trainer Mark Minervini prepares Dulcima who has a great chance on Friday.

RACE 7

I Love Lucy is another flashy chestnut that could easily grace the winner’s stall at Goulburn. This Lee and Cherie Curtis-trained filly is a very fast horse. She showed as much at Scone at her July 9 visit where she ran her rivals off their legs in the 1000m Class 1. Importantly, that was her first time on a Heavy track and she ploughed through it. Tash Burleigh-trained filly Princess Spice has raced twice on Heavy tracks for a win and second. The granddaughter of Snitzel has won here at the home track and looked well placed. Both of Amazing Nicci’s wins are on Heavy tracks.

Bet: I Love Lucy to win

RACE 8

Golden Fighter - yes, another chestnut with some prominent white markings - could be the best horse to come out of this meeting. The Matthew Smith-trained son of Sooboog has trialled five times and won four of them. The great unknown is the wet. One the plus side, he is a grandson of Sniztel, the negative is that his dam is by Sepoy. Speaking of breeding, Gary Portelli saddles-up a real blue blood here in Kiss The Outcast who is by Pariah out of Besame Mucho. Got to love the two trials. Maresca has the race advantage and the local knowledge in as much as her debut third was here.

Bet: Golden Fighter to win
