DUBBO

BEST BET

Race 4, No.6: TIDAL RUSH

Lightly-raced gelding from the Brett Cavanough stable who has won two of his three starts. Trialled like he will add a third win to his tally on Friday.

NEXT BEST

Race 1, No.6: LADY AUDREY

Gets her big chance to shed her maiden status here after some rock-solid runs since she joined the Todd Howlett stable.

VALUE BET

Race 3, No.4: STRATHCONA

Another Brett Cavanough-trained galloper who has put the writing on the wall for a win off a smashing trial 9-days ago.

QUADDIE

Race 7: 3,5,10,14

Race 8: 2,4,6,9,13

Race 9: 3,4,8,1,15

JOCKEY TO FOLLOW

Grant Buckley is in with a good show of winning the Wellington Cup and the Jockeys Challenge at Dubbo.

WAGGA

BEST BET

Race 2, No.2: LUNAR SHOES

Tim Donnelly-trained gelding who is back to his own age after two very good runs against older horses. Has the talent.

NEXT BEST

Race 4, No.2: CELLAR CHAMP

Stablemate of Another One who is building up to a win after two ripper runs in May.

VALUE BET

Race 5, No.12: THE CHAPLAIN

Only won three from 46 but is getting closer than ever to adding another one to his C.V.

THE INSIDE MAIL FOR DUBBO

RACE 7

Elegant Poetess is an 11-start maiden but at the same time, she has never been closer to a win than at present. The Jeremy Gask-trained mare went within a whisker of winning her May 22 visit to Muswellbrook on a Heavy 9 as well. Ticks a few boxes. Mojo Classic makes his debut for Scott Singleton on Friday having been with Chris Waller for five runs. Ran a nose second to his then stablemate Smirk on debut at Newcastle. Latest News is better than her resume reads at first glance and has claims.

Bet: Elegant Poetess to win

RACE 8

Winter Moon is Redoute’s Choice three-quarter brother to the Blue Diamond and Sangster winner, Miracles Of Life. This Brett Thompson-trained gelding is handy on his best day and would no doubt have a few more wins on his C.V if not for his pattern where more often than not he goes back. Anselmo is third-up at the 1600m having gone 1250m then 1400 and improved out of sight from one run to the next. Peaks here. Allan Denham’s Kermadec mare L’Esperanace Rock shapes well again.

Bet: Winter Moon to win, quinella 2,6

RACE 9

Wild Chap has really hit his best stride now just in time for this race which carries $48,000 to winner and a ticket to the $2 million The Big Dance. The Kembla housed gelding is coming off back-to-back wins at Canterbury by a combined margin of six and a half lengths. Has ‘the draw’. Reward Seeker has some pretty compelling numbers to play a role here. He is good fresh and he has finished first or second at 10 of 21 starts. Spanish Point sent out all the right signs when he came from last to run fourth on the Kensington mid-May.

Bet: Wild Chap each-way

RACE 10

Riders In The Stands is one of the value runners on this mammoth card. The Brett Thompson-trained mare has won just one race in 20 starts but that was on a heavy track and we should also note that she has placed eight times. Placed two of three at Dubbo and the trial win here the other day signals intent. Hard not to be impressed with the way Briefly is tracking this time in. Towelled up a pretty handy bunch of maidens at Tamworth last start and has a ripper draw for Bucko. Epic Time came from a mile back to win quite easily here on May 21.

Bet: Riders In The Stands each-way, box trifecta 2,3,10,16

THE INSIDE MAIL FOR WAGGA

RACE 5

The Chaplain has only won three times in his 46 starts but he has placed 15 times. On top of that, the Kooringal stud-bred son of Zariz has raced at Wagga on 18 occasions for a win and eight placings. Placed four from six on Heavy tracks and is building to something. Mahsinger is another one who doesn’t win all that frequently but this is his trip and his track. Sinamay should be open to getting the box-seat here and when that happened at Albury last start - he won. Ahadi Faresi likewise has a favourable draw.

Bet: The Chaplain each-way

RACE 6

Vella Fox is a son of Foxwedge with a regal heritage as it happens. His sixth dam is Kingston Rose who is best known as the mother of those epic fillies Rose Of Kingston and Spirit Of Kingston. As for Vella Fox, he was given a very easy time of things when fourth, beaten four-lengths, in his Canberra trial on April 27. Just Go Bang trialled exceedingly well back on December 29 but had no jockey booked to ride on Thursday. Master Joy, the great-grandson of Loving Cup, has won both of his trials and you can’t ask for anything more from a debutant.

Bet: Vella Fox to win

Jockey Jeff Penza (pictured) rides Mooshaka at Wagga on Friday.

RACE 7

Mooshaka has a very wide draw here as opposed to four of 12 when Jeff Penza steered her home to win at Canberra on May 20. For starters, they will come in a fair few and Wagga is a famously spacious track so no need to push the panic button on her. Keith, the former Bjorn Baker-housed gelding, ran a huge race at his first outing for Donna Scott in that Albury Class 1. No reason why he can’t continue to build on that. Rebel Dreamer generates considerable interest (and respect) here having won her only start ever, on the Acton track on August 6.

Bet: Mooshaka to win

RACE 8

All Formidable ran a huge race, probably a career P.B, at his last start on May 21 when he finished fifth in a Highway at Rosehill when beaten a diminishing three and a half lengths bearing in mind that he was 13 of 13 at the turn. Brainzes is one for one on Heavy and was also really good in his Highway, albeit back on February 12. Blushing Mary is unbeaten in her two runs at this track and distance, one of them was on a Heavy 10. Onya Lionel is consistent and a last start winner to boot.

Bet: All Formidable to win
