As investments go, the $65,000 spent on Global Glamour four years ago has paid off handsomely — the star mare sold on Wednesday at the Magic Millions Broodmare Sale for $1.55 million.
The Gai Waterhouse-trained mare is in foal to Widden stud’s champion sprinter Zoustar and is guaranteed to deliver a highly prized foal for new owners Gerry Harvey and Coolmore’s Tom Magnier.
“I love this horse. I followed her every career move and have delighted in her Group 1 wins,” said Magic Millions co-owner Katie Page.
Page is one of 40 female owners from seven countries who joined together to form the syndicate that bought Global Glamour at the Magic Millions on the Gold Coast in 2015.
It pioneered a trend to cash in on the extra prize money available for female owned horses.
“This mare embodies everything that Magic Millions Racing Women stands for. It is different when you are the owner,” Page said.

“The win feels different. A thrill that is shared — whether in person track-side or watching live on your mobile at 2am on the other side of the world.
“She has created friendships that will endure long after today. Not to mention she has made the Global Glamour girls over $1.5 million in prizemoney and proceeds from the sale today. How good is that!”
The syndicate’s co-founder Elaine “Legs” Lawlor, who is based in the UK, vowed: “We will be back at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale next January to find another.”
