State of Origin II 2016: Plenty of tickets still left for Suncorp blockbuster
THE Queensland Rugby League insists Origin II will be a sellout, with the final release of tickets for next week’s blockbuster at Suncorp Stadium on Monday.
THE Queensland Rugby League insists Origin II will be a sellout despite thousands of tickets remaining.
A final release of tickets for next Wednesday’s blockbuster at Suncorp Stadium was made on Monday.
The extra tickets that became available for Queensland’s only home game this year were returned from licensees and made available to the public.
Ticket sales had been slow on the back of Origin I at ANZ Stadium in Sydney a fortnight ago failing to sell out.
Exorbitant ticket prices have been blamed for slow sales in recent years, however a full house at the 52,500-seat stadium is expected.
“There’s a final release of tickets that have gone on sale,” QRL chairman Peter Betros said. “There are some very good tickets available.
“I’d be very surprised if there were any tickets left by (Wednesday). We put the tickets on sale that are returned from licensees. They are on sale to the public now and they will be very popular.”
The NRL sets ticket prices for major events and did not increase the price from last year.
There are plenty of silver seats left, which will set you back $204.
Tickets in the Blatchy’s Blues section, NSW’s official supporters group, are also available at $168. Single seats are available in the platinum ($270) and gold ($245) sections, however the cheap bronze ($80) and white ($50) categories sold out quickly.
