Sapphire Series R12 live stream: Carina League Club Tigers face off against Gold Coast Titans

The nerves hit the Tigers late, as the Titans made no mistake to book themselves a finals berth with a weekend still to go in the Sapphire Series. Watch the REPLAYS now.

Titans veteran Kristen Oxenford pulled off the moment of the match to defeat the Tigers and secure the Titans a spot in the Sapphire Series finals with a week to play.

Up by two goals with only a minute to go, the experienced defender pulled off a sensational intercept to cut off a Tigers raid and secure the win.

It compounded a tough final few minutes for the Tigers, who missed four-straight looks at the hoop when up by one goal.

Titans shooter Talitah Faifai had no such dramas at the other end of the court as she put away three straight looks on goal to complete the come-from-behind 46-45 win.

Faifai finished the match with a game-high 30 goals from 35 attempts.

Emily Gilbert was crucial through the midcourt for the Titans side in what was a physical and seesawing encounter between the two sides.

Annabelle Laurie had plenty of opportunites to push the ledger for the Tigers side, but her accuracy on goal was a telling issue for the Carina side, with the goaler finishing with 13 from 24 attempts.

Her vertical leap and intimidating hands under pressure make any mid-courter second guess their feed.

What’s more Gilbert has the uncanny ability to read her shooter’s next moment before it happens, affording her tip after tip during even the most crucial games.

It is why the Titans love having her on their side, just like Queensland love having her brother, Tom, in their Origin jersey.

Gilbert can play between wing defence, goal defence or goal keeper depending on her opposition and co-defender.

It makes her especially useful alongside the likes of Jess Milne, another tall timber with exceptional elevation and timing on her jumps.

The Titans dominated when the teams met back in round five, but the Tigers have since reeled off four wins in five games, including two narrow successes over the ladder-leading Jets and the Bull Sharks.

Back then though, the Titans still had former Silver Fern, Cat Tuivaiti, in their ranks, which proved a difficult task for the Tigers’ defensive circle. She has since left the club.

Meanwhile, Tigers captain Amy Somerville was unable to play as she recovered from knee surgery.

EXPERT PREDICTION

With both teams experiencing a change in line-up since their last match-up, it will be interesting to see who responds best to the pressure.

Titans have lost an international-level shooter, while Tigers gain their most experienced (and captain) player back.

We predict Titans will continue in top form, but not without a battle.

If they want to stay in close contention, Tigers simply need to stop feeds from reaching goal attack Josie Bingham and goal shooter Talitah Faifai.

Both girls have proved themselves consistent and accurate, with Bingham especially catching the eyes of every opposition coach as a danger player.

And if the same sounds familiar, that’s because younger sister, Chloe, is the Tigers’ starting goal shooter.

It is the sibling rivalry of all sibling rivalries.

RUBY LEAGUE

It’s the Tigers who step onto court with an advantage.

Sitting on top of the ladder while the Titans languish in fourth, the Tigers have only dropped one game this season and are well on their way to finals success.

Though the Titans will not let up easy this week, still running on the high of a double-header triumph in rounds 10 and 11 that saw them take two wins in a row.

The match will come down to who wants it more.
