Runaway Bay Cricket Club president Travis Harker has vowed to “change his ways” following an incident between him and a fellow club member.

A Runaway Bay First Grade player submitted a formal written complaint to the club secretary regarding Harker.

The Queensland Cricket Integrity Commission investigated the matter and held a conciliation meeting on March 11.

A Cricket Gold Coast official, who did not wish to be named, said the governing body was aware of the incident, revealing Harker did not receive any punishment and was cleared of any accusations presented during the investigation

Harker’s apology which was sent out to Runaway Bay members reads as follows:

“I would like to apologise to Adnan Hussain for the comments I’ve made to him.

“I would like to wholeheartedly apologise to him and his family for any hurt or distress I have caused and reiterate how sorry I am for what has occurred.

“Attached is my apology to Adnan, dated 12 December 2024.

“To Adnan. After our phone call the other night, I have had more time to reflect and I regret that I didn’t begin by putting my apology into a letter rather than starting with a phone call.

“As you know, I get carried away with my words sometimes and say things before I have thought about it first.

“I want to reiterate that I am truly sorry for my words and actions that have offended you and your family.

“I consider myself to be a happy go lucky character in which I try and have a good time with everyone.

“I understand I am not everyone’s cup of tea but I don’t have malice in any of my actions. “This is not an excuse for what I have done and I understand why this is a very serious situation.

“I take pride in my reputation and my family’s, as I know you do.

“I am mortified that I have hurt you and your family.

“I love that you have brought your young family down to the Club that we both love and it really does upset me that I have made you and your family feel unwelcome.

“I cannot apologise enough mate for what I have said and done.

“Even the fact that have known you for so long, it is hurting me.

“Since our conversation I have had a few moments to reflect and will change my ways.

“I have spoken to Arran and he has suggested that I do some cultural awareness education. am fully prepared to do that and will take it on board.

“None of this is on you mate, I take responsibility for my actions. I am so sorry Adnan.”
