REPLAY: Gold Coast Rugby Union Grand Final - Griffith Uni Knights vs Nerang Bulls (1st Grade)

After five years packing down in the Griffith University Colleges Knights scrum side-by-side, flanker Tysen Urry lock and Seb Gallagher have hung up the boots together.

The pair, who joined the club together in 2016, have played in every one of the Knights’ five straight Grand Final appearances.

Until Saturday they had only won one Premiership.

With their second in hand, the pair agreed it was time to end their rugby career’s on the highest note.

“It’s been unreal to have shared this journey with ‘Pup,’” Gallagher said.

“I love playing with the guy... Even just saying it’s the last time gives me goosebumps.

“We both said to each other before the game that this was it - we are not going to lose.

“I knew that if we did (stay composed through the red card) that we would win.

“I couldn’t be happier.”

Urry, who played a decade with Helensvale before joining Colleges, said although his playing career was finished he would stick around the club to support his former teammates.

“I’ll still be around but I’m done (playing),” he said.

“I might take up golf in my spare time instead.”

Could a return via Third Grade be on the cards?

“No way - I’m too competitive to play Third Grade,” Urry laughed.

“I’ll be helping out the club in other aspects now.”

Time will tell if Richard Kingi will follow suit, after pledging his retirement for two seasons straight.
