Single’s girls defeated Keebra Park in the Cup Semi-Final placing both Coast schools in the top four in the State while King’s Christian College’s girls finished fifth.

Proud Miami coach Matt Chapman said his school’s advanced strength-and-conditioning program was reaping the rewards as Miami’s superior fitness contributed to a strong weekend of results.

The Under-18 girls survived five and a half minutes of ball-in-play time to lead St John’s College, Nambour at halftime.

Miami’s Under-15 boys shocked on debut to claim their maiden All Schools trophy, while King’s under-18 boys came within a whisker of glory, finishing the tournament as runners-up in their division.

Matt Chapman, head coach of Miami’s defending champion Under-18 girls, said this tournament was the culmination of an unforgettable year of football.

“This is it, the big one,” he said. “It’s basically the Queensland Schools state championships.

“The main opposition usually comes from the Brisbane schools but the Sunshine Coast has become stronger.

“Even though there won’t be as many SEQ teams this year the quality gets better every year, which is quite amazing.”
