Ronda Rousey: Justin Bieber dissed me

SHE’S one of the biggest names in sport today but when Ronda Rousey met Justin Bieber she says he treated her like a nobody.

THERE’S no doubt Ronda Rousey’s popularity has exploded in the past 12 months, but back in May last year when she attended the Cannes Film Festival she was already a pretty big star.

The reigning UFC women’s bantamweight champion was in France after making a cameo in The Expendables 3 and took her younger sister, Julia, along for the ride.

The pair were at a party filled with celebrities when, according to Rousey, they had a very brief exchange with popstar Justin Bieber.

“Justin Bieber was actually really rude to my little sister at the Cannes Film Festival,” Rousey recently told Cosmopolitan.

“My little sister is very hard to impress so we didn’t really care about anybody that was at the Cannes Film Festival but I wanted to spend some time with her.

“Justin Bieber was taking some pictures with some ladies and she suddenly got really excited and was like, ‘Do you think he’d want to take a picture with me?’

“I was like, ‘Sure Julie, don’t worry about it, everyone’s taking pictures today. Don’t feel bad, that’s why everybody’s here ... look at him, he’s a sweetheart.’

“I walked over there and said, ‘Excuse me,’ he turned and goes, ‘I’ve already taken a billion pictures today, OK.’

“I said, ‘Yeah but’ — because my sister is the only 16-year-old girl at the whole party — I only got, ‘Yeah but’ out before he goes, ‘A billion’ and walks off and totally snubs my little sister.

“She looks at me and she’s on the verge of tears and she goes, ‘I’m no longer a Belieber.’”

It’s the same case now for Rousey. “Yeah I don’t think I’d want to hang out with him. I’m not a Belieber. I was, but I’m not anymore.”

We’re assuming Bieber — like his close friend Floyd Mayweather — simply didn’t know who Rousey was at the time.

A few months earlier, Rousey had stated she could beat Mayweather in a mixed martial arts fight. When he was made aware of her comments, Mayweather revealed he hadn’t even heard of her, and referred to her as a he. “I don’t even know who he is,” he said.

While the prospect of what would happen if Mayweather and Rousey actually fought has been a long-running (and pointless) discussion among some fight fans, there’s no doubt what the end result would be if she took on Bieber.

So probably best to just take the photo next time, if there is one.

Bieber walked out Mayweather out for a fight in Las Vegas just days before his exchange with Rousey.
