As the 2023 All Schools Touch carnival gets underway on the Gold Coast from October 4-8, we reveal the 160+ junior stars coming through local touch footy ranks.
From those just starting out to the teen veterans with state and national experience, see who’s leading the way.

Since moving to QLD in 2019 and first starting to play touch mid way through 2020, Kelsey has represented Sharks and Palm Beach Stingrays in both A teams 2023, 2022 and 2021. She attends PBC and this year was selected to represent the 12 girls South Coast School team where they made the GF, coming second in QLD. From this carnival Kelsey was selected as a shadow player in the 12 girls QLD school girls side. Kelsey’s key attributes would be her strong knowledge of the game, competitiveness, her ability to organise the team both in attack and defence, positive attitude, ball playing and her low dives on sweeper plays (C1 and C7).

Scarlet was selected and played in the Gold Coast 10A girls rep team in 2019. Since then she has played on the Gold Coast 10A girls in 2022 & Gold Coast 12A girls in 2023. This is Scarlets first year being eligible for Sharks and has been selected in the Sharks 12A girls team at bottom age.
In 2023 Scarlet was selected to represent South Coast school sport in Touch & AFL. Scarlet was selected as one of the top 12 touch players in the state making the Queensland touch team. This is a huge achievement for Scarlet as the youngest on the team and still eligible for a chance in 2024.
Scarlets key attributes would be her speed, her determination & her drive to be the best version of herself on the field.
Legend Gentles

Legend took to the field at four years and never looked back. He has been playing club reps since 7yrs old. He is a current Gold Coast touch rep. He has played for South Coast 10-12yr boys for three years, becoming captain in 2023 & leading his team to an undefeated win at QSST Touch champs. He recently captained the QSST 12 boys team to a gold medal win over NSW at the Australian School Sport Touch Champs in Darwin.

Rebel‘s best attributes are being a team player who thrives in defence but shows maturity in all areas of the game.
She has played club representative for GCTA since 2020. Rebel represented the 12 girls South Coast School team last year in 2022 where they won the state championship and was named as a shadow for the QLD school girls. Following on from last year, this year she represented South Coast and came second in the state and earnt a selection in the 12 girls QLD school girls‘ side. This will be Rebels second campaign for Sharks in the 12 girls A team at NYC.

Mackenzie has represented Palm Beach Sting Rays in A Division for four years. Her team won the State cup this year in Rockhampton.
Mackenzie was selected and competed this year in Cairns representing South Coast where her team came second place, and she was selected as a shadow for the QLD team. Mackenzie was also selected and represented South Coast in 2022 where they became state champions.
This will be Mackenzie’s second year representing South Coast Sharks at the NYC, she was also selected in the All Schools team 2020-2023

She made the hinterland team in 2022 and again this year but also represented in the under 12’s South-coast team in cairns this year.

Ryder is also a keen mountain bike enthusiast spending his weekends exploring trails across Brisbane with his mates.

He is known as the sniper for his keen eye defensively. He plays locally at Redlands, Wynnum and Metro cup at BMTA.

He also plays Wednesday Mens in his school representative side and Metro Cup for Redlands division three men’s. Finn also is a regular referee for the younger kids. Safe to say Finny loves a good game of touch!
He was selected as a shadow for this years 13-15 yrs boys Metropolitan East touch side.
Playing sharks gives Finn an opportunity to play with some of the boys he goes up against at All Schools.

Ella Watkins has played at a club level since she was 7 years old and represented Gold Coast, Sharks and most recently the South Coast U18 girls team in 2023 where they came third in the state and was also named players player. Elles key attributes would be her speed and unpredictability but most of all her love for the game and playing for her teammates. Elles plays link position and wishes to one day play for her state and represent her country.
