SUSPENDED Big Bash cricket star Brendon McCullum has been busy inspecting nags at the Magic Millions but said he wasn’t buying for his Kiwi horseracing operation.
The former New Zealand Black Caps captain and big-hitting batsman had the pen and notebook out at the stables of the Gold Coast’s Bundall sales complex yesterday afternoon.
Looking relaxed and wandering around with his wife, horse-mad McCullum was adamant he wouldn’t be bidding on any yearlings for his New Zealand-based Vermair Racing syndicate.
“I’m not here buying anything. I’m just on holiday, my wife is with me.”
The big-hitting Brisbane Heat captain said he couldn’t talk because of a media ban placed on him while he served a one-match suspension.
McCullum was automatically suspended on Wednesday night after the Heat’s bowling innings ran 16 minutes over time against Perth at the Gabba.
It was his second strike for a slow over rate and the automatic one-match suspension robs the Brisbane Heat of one of its main men against the Stars in Melbourne next Tuesday.
