SYDNEY trainer Gary Moore has sent colt Line Up Girls to the Gold Coast chasing his first win and the prizemoney needed to reach the Magic Millions 2YO Classic.
Moore has been targeting the $2 million race since he returned to Australia three years ago but is yet to win the Classic despite being active at the sales in recent times.
“He wants to win it,” Moore’s Sydney-based foreman Marc Chevalier.
“He wants to win there because he has always loved the Gold Coast and buys a lot of horses from the Magic Millions sales.
“He would love to win it and every year we try to get a few horses qualified.”
Line Up Girls won a trial at Canterbury Park in September before finishing last in his first race at Randwick in October.
The result prompted Moore to send Line Up Girls to son David, who operates a new stable for him on the Gold Coast.
“He showed a bit of promise but was a bit disappointing on his first start,” Chevalier said.
“He appeared to be a bit sore behind and we gave him a bit time out. We thought a change of environment may be good for him.
“That’s why we moved him to the Gold Coast.
“We would like to get him ready for the Magic Millions if we can.”
Line Up Girls ($160,000) is one of three Magic Millions hopefuls Moore has for the January 13 race including Pacquirri ($265,000) and De Lady Deluxe ($90,000).
Both Line Up Girls and De Lady Deluxe are owned by women’s syndicates aiming for the $500,000 bonus on offer to the first four all-female owned or leased horses in finishing order in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic.
Chevalier said Line Up Girls would likely travel to Brisbane if he wins at Aquis Park today as he tries to secure the prizemoney needed to qualify for the 2YO Classic.
