TOBY Edmonds could be the man to dethrone reigning trainers premiership titleholder Les Kelly as he closes in on a second crown himself.
Edmonds has 22 wins to his name, two behind Les Kelly with going into the second-last meeting of the 2018-19 season on Saturday.
Edmonds won his first and only Gold Coast premiership in the 2015-16 season, a feat followed by Helen Page in 2016-17 and then Les Kelly in 2017-18.

Kelly and Edmonds both have six horses accepted to race and their success at the meeting will determine who goes into the final weekend in the box seat to claim their second title.
Edmonds said it wasn’t his focus to win another premiership but he would be proud to claim another gong.
“Any premiership is OK,” Edmonds said.
“It’s not really our focus. Our focus is just to go to the races and have our horses in as good an order as we can and race as well as we can. If a premiership went our way it would be great.”
Edmonds’ major focus is on winning in Brisbane and he currently sits second in the Racing Queensland trainers premiership with 47 wins.
But his strike rate of 21.6% at the Gold Coast is impressive, with the stable having 102 horses run at the track so far this season.
Edmonds said Ensenada was one of his better chances, with the two-year-old gelding looking to go back-to-back for the stable after winning on a heavy 10 at the Gold Coast on June 29.
The gelding will run in the QTIS Two-Years-Old Class 1 Plate (1400m) with jockey Anthony Allen in the saddle.
“His win the other day was good even though it was a small field, it was a very wet track,” Edmonds said.
“I liked his win and I thought he trained on OK. I’m hoping he can put in another performance like he did first-up.”
