THE son of successful Gold Coast jockey Jeff Lloyd has celebrated his first win in the saddle.

Jaden Lloyd, 17, won Saturday’s Benchmark 50 Handicap (1400m) on Autocrat at Jerilderie, the apprentice hoop finishing two lengths in front of the Michael Travers-trained Sam.

It came a day before his father and retiring jockey Jeff was presented with his fourth consecutive Metropolitan Premiership Queensland Thoroughbred Awards in Brisbane.

The Gold Coast-based Lloyd has called time on a career that spawned more than 5000 winners, including 94 at Group 1 level.

Jaden made his riding debut in August and it took him 23 rides to find his first winner. It took his father 38.
