They sold it for $30,000 and were forced to take it back when the buyer changed his mind. After selling cheap shares to family members and first-time owners, Jetty made his debut by winning on the Gold Coast. Watch the celebrations here.

THE Cincotta family have got a return on their investment in Jetty, it just wasn’t the way initially planned.
The operators of Gold Coast-based 2K Thoroughbreds have celebrated an emotional win with the gelding in the QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap (1200m) on debut at the Gold Coast.
It was also a thrill for the other owners, many first timers, including Sunshine Coast real estate agent John Boyle and Uber driver Frank Johnson, who was lured into the ownership while transporting another of the connections.
All bought in for about $1200 and watched on a Zoom video meeting together as the Toby and Trent Edmonds-trained and Ryan Maloney-ridden gelding won $36,600 first prize and $24,500 in QTIS bonuses.
2K Thoroughbreds managing director Sterling Cincotta said the full brother to fellow former two-year-old talents Unconditional, who won a trial this week, and Champagne Jet, who will race next week, was originally destined to race with someone else.
“We ended up selling him through the ring last year in March for $30,000 and the buyer got him home and wasn’t completely happy with him,” Cincotta said.
“He asked if I wanted him back. We brought him back to the farm and broke him in three or four days later.
“The idea was to race him ourselves and we know the family can run.
“In the last few months we got all the family back into him and a few of the guys who work in the office at 2K got a few of their friends in.
“There are a few first time owners who basically went in for nothing.
“Their purchase price or entry price was recovered (on Friday) and off we go.”
Cincotta said Jetty had talent and could run in stronger Saturday QTIS races.
“Six weeks ago he was going for a spell,” he said. “We made the decision to keep him in work and at least get him to a trial.
“He trialled well Toby said he bounced straight through it and came on.
“We thought 1200m would be a touch long first-up but Ryan got off and thought next time in he might be looking for a mile (1600m).”
Jetty, who drifted from $2.90 to $4.60, safely held Mishani Rebel ($16) and Spirit One ($2.25 favourite) at bay yesterday.
