Benowa’s Inessa McIntyre took out the top prize in the Myer Fashions on the Field with a quirky outfit inspired by a large, bright yellow headpiece with butterflies on it.
Her patterned Versace blouse and clashing striped skirt, made by a designer in the Ukraine, completed the outfit seamlessly.
RECORD CROWDS AT MAGIC MILLIONS
Ms McIntyre gushed as she told the Gold Coast Bulletin it was “every girl’s dream to win such a big competition”.
“To be honest, I cannot believe it,” she said.
“I’m quite happy that I’m representing not only ladies a bit older than 20 but plus- size ladies, which is a real bonus for me.”
Ms McIntyre said she was excited about going on the $10,000 all-expenses paid, 10-day trip to the Melbourne Cup.
Bright colours, clashing prints and unusual headpieces were all the rage for fashionistas who strutted their stuff at the Magic Millions.
Judge Viktoria Novak said the winning outfit showcased clashing prints and the colour yellow, both big trends for 2016.
“That headpiece drew inspiration to the rest of the outfit and it all just flowed. It was all very layered and it just had finesse and edge,” she said.
The dapper Kaan Whittal, dressed in a blue suit with a red check shirt, was crowned the most fashionable gent, scoring a $1000 Myer voucher and Calleja cufflinks worth $8500.
He said it was the first time he had entered the competition and his girlfriend had helped out with his accessories.
“It’s quite nerve-racking getting up there,” he said.
