Jockey Luke Dittman finds secret to winning ways of Beaudacious

JOCKEY Luke Dittman believes he has unlocked the secret to riding Beaudacious and hopes to be on-board when she goes for a third straight win.

JOCKEY Luke Dittman believes he has unlocked the secret to riding Beaudacious and hopes to be on-board when she goes for a third straight win.

Dittman rode the filly to victory in the QTIS 3YO Class 1 Handicap (1400m) at the Gold Coast on Saturday.

It was the second straight win for Beaudacious in what remains an undefeated preparation, and has taken her record to two wins and a second from five starts.

“She’s a pretty handy horse. She’s not tall but she’s got a lot of heart,” Dittman said.

“She keeps lobbing up in front and getting a cruisy lead before sprinting away from them. If she can keep doing that and relaxing there is plenty more in store for her.

“She had an outside alley but got out cleanly and got to the front pretty much within two strides.

“Once she got in front and set her own pace it was game over from there.”

Dittman, who has been on board for both victories, said he had found how to motivate the Kelly Schweida-trained filly who led the field before winning by just short of a length on Saturday.

“You have just got to let her do what she wants,” Dittman said. “You have just got to let her run and relax underneath you. Fingers crossed I can stay onboard her.”

Beaudacious ran second, fourth and 11th in her first preparation between April and May this year but has returned a better horse.

“She didn’t have too bad a prep last time,” Dittman said.

“She ran off the track towards the back end of it but she has come back a better horse than the last couple of times.

“She is kicking it off with a bang that’s for sure.”
