UNSTOPPABLE Gold Coast-based jockey Jeff Lloyd is poised to break yet another riding record this week.

The 56-year-old has already smashed the record for the most winners in a Brisbane metropolitan season with 118, beating Chris Munce’s previous mark of 103 set in 2011-12.

Lloyd is booked for seven rides at the metropolitan class meeting at Ipswich tomorrow.

He is now on 153 Queensland winners which is two short of Munce’s state record of 155 also set in 2011-12.

Lloyd has ridden 155 winners on all Australian racetracks which puts him three short of Munce’s record for all tracks by a Queensland-based jockey.

Lloyd, who also has two wins outside Queensland this season, is vying with Perth rider William Pike to be Australia’s leading jockey, with the latter leading 158 to 155.

“As I keep saying, if you ride winners the records can look after themselves,” Lloyd said.

Leading apprentice Tiffani Brooker is also after a record, chasing Tegan Harrison’s mark of 51, the highest for a female jockey in the Brisbane premiership.

With two months of the 2016-17 racing season remaining, Brooker is on 41 and has nine scheduled rides at the 11-race Ipswich meeting tomorrow.

GROUP 1-winning mare Miss Cover Girl is primed to finish her career on a high in the Group 3 Glenlogan Park Stakes (1300m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

Miss Cover Girl has won eight of her 31 starts and $847,900 prizemoney with her biggest win coming in the Group 1 Tatt’s Tiara at Eagle Farm last June.

The five-year-old daughter of Monashee Mountain is headed to the Magic Millions National Sale on the Gold Coast next Tuesday to be sold as a broodmare.

She has had one run this campaign, finishing third in the Group 2 Victory Stakes at Eagle Farm two weeks ago.

Trainer Kelly Schweida has kept her ticking over with a trial at Doomben last week in which she finished fifth.

“It was a blanket finish and she was about half a length from the winner,” Schweida said.

“She is a five-year-old mare now and the time is right to send her to stud.

“It would be lovely to send her out a winner. No matter what happens she will be worth a bit as a broodmare.

“There aren’t many Group 1-winning mares around for sale so I am sure she will bring in the high six figures or even seven figures.”
