GAI Waterhouse says she will run Terminology in Saturday’s $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic should the filly make the field and believes she can improve enough to challenge the field.
Terminology is likely to be the second emergency when the field is finalised today after finishing second to Sunlight in Saturday’s QTIS Two-Years-Old Handicap (1100m) at Aquis Park on the Gold Coast.
Sunlight — rated a $4.40 chance to win the 2YO Classic — finished 4 ½ lengths in front of Terminology but that hasn’t put off Waterhouse who won’t hesitate to enter the filly should she be given the chance.
“I would run her if she made the field,” Waterhouse said.
“We are happy with her and she has certainly pulled up well.”
Waterhouse backed Terminology to challenge the leaders if she runs, believing the extra 100m in the 1200m race will suit her filly.
“I think she ran very solidly (on Saturday),” Waterhouse said.
“The horse that won the race (Sunlight) was far more brilliant but I thought she ran very well.
“Her run was very good. It was very solid and very determined.
“She just looking for longer and is certainly looking for 1200m. She will run the distance right out.”
Should Terminology make the final field of 16 she will be one of two horses in the race that Waterhouse has won a record four times with Assertive Lad (2000), Excellerator (2001), Dance Hero (2004) and Driefontein (2012).
Waterhouse’s other runner will be Whiskey Shooter, who moved in to 16th in the ballot after winning on debut at Canterbury Park on Friday.
“She is another very nice filly who is in very tenacious form,” Waterhouse said.
“She is also on target.”
