Port Adelaide star Robbie Gray will not play in Friday night’s State of Origin Bushfire Relief match, with Power teammate Travis Boak replacing him in Victoria’s 27-man squad.

According to the AFL website, 31-year-old Gray withdrew from the clash due to foot soreness, but is expected to line-up in Port’s second Marsh Community Series match against the Western Bulldogs on Saturday, March 7.

Gray did not play in the Power’s 21-point pre-season win over Brisbane on Sunday, however former skipper Boak did – collecting an impressive 33 disposals, 11 clearances and seven tackles as he continued the outstanding form he showed throughout the 2019 premiership season.

Boak will join ruckman Scott Lycett as Port’s only representatives in the Victorian squad – which boasts stars such as Geelong’s Patrick Dangerfield, Adelaide’s Rory Sloane and Richmond’s Dustin Martin – that will take on the All Stars side.

North Melbourne’s Ben Cunnington was also set to play but pulled out on Monday night with soreness, and has been replaced by West Coast’s Andrew Gaff.

The All Stars line-up is headlined by Fremantle’s dual Brownlow medallist Nat Fyfe, Adelaide’s Taylor Walker and Rory Laird, and Brisbane’s Lachie Neale.

Money raised from the match will help rebuild football facilities affected by the national bushfire crisis.

The game starts at 7.20pm SA time.
