Top professional triathletes from around the world are set to make their way to the Far North once again next year following the announcement that Cairns will be part of the Ironman Pro Series in 2025.

Ironman Cairns is scheduled to be held on 15 June 2025 and will be the tenth stop in the global series.

The event will also be the only full-distance Ironman Pro Series race in Oceania.

Regional Director for The Ironman Group Oceania, Leanna Ali, said that the team was looking forward to bringing the Ironman Pro Series to Tropical North Queensland again in 2025.

“We’re thrilled to have Ironman Cairns as a part of the Ironman Pro Series once again in 2025,” said Ali.

“It was incredible to have some of the top triathletes in the world join us this year, with the Ironman Pro Series taking the event to a worldwide audience and showcasing what we love to call the race in paradise.

“The addition of the Ironman Pro Series to Ironman Cairns last year took this fan-favourite event to a new level, and we can’t wait to do it again next June. Ironman Cairns is a bucket list event for athletes from around the world, and we’re looking forward to having our age-group athletes racing on the same course at the same time as some of the top professionals in the sport.”

This year, 2,800 athletes and their families descended on the region to enjoy the tropical winter sun and the thrill of the race.

Cairns’ coffers were boosted by the $12 million pumped into the city by the race.

Broadcast internationally, the event showcases the region as a tourism destination.
