Gold Coast Titans will be looking to celebrate with three of their teammates in style in the season opener against the Dragons on Saturday night.
AJ Brimson will bring up his 100th NRL game and 100th game for the Titans as he looks to remain a one game player.
Known as ‘the Palm Beach prince,’ Brimson said he owes everything to his family as he reflected on his 99 games so far.
“My old man is the reason I got into footy and he passed away in 2011 but he was the reason we started playing footy,” Brimson said.
“Its kind of cool to see mum now converge into rugby league mum. She was never a footy mum but she kind of had to take the roll when everything went south.
“Its something I am very proud of, my family and friends are very proud of and very grateful to play 100 games and be a one club player.”
Brimson debuted for the Titans in 2018 in the round 10 loss to Melbourne Storm at Suncorp Stadium.
His second game, first game at Titans home stadium, Cbus is one of his favourite memories.
“I always remember, we versed the Newcastle Knights, got the win but I was just stoked to play an NRL game at Cbus,” Brimson said.
“Leading into the week, you are always on edge.
“We trained that week, you know am I playing, am I versing a team like the Knights.
“That is probably one of my favourite memories in the NRL, my first win, my first try, at home.”
Brimson’s teammates, Isaac Liu and Brian Kelly will also be bringing up milestones in round one this season.
Liu will play his 250 NRL game while Kelly will bring up his 100th game as a Titan as well.
“I just want to get the win, first game back at Cbus,” Brimson said.
“Few other boys milestones, Dessy’s first game.”
