One UFC owner went to extraordinary lengths to give Ronda Rousey what she wanted

RONDA Rousey is such a money-maker that the UFC would do almost anything to please her, and here’s the proof.

WHEN someone has an undefeated record in the most violent sport on the planet, the fear of getting beaten to a pulp is enough to make you go to any length to keep them happy.

The UFC obviously agrees with this train of thought, as Ronda Rousey revealed in a recent interview with Self magazine just how far the sport’s governing body was prepared to go to cater to her every wish.

In the interview with comedian Chelsea Peretti, the 28-year-old said she likes to unwind after a fight by indulging one of her great loves in this world — hot wings. And what Ronda wants, Ronda gets.

“After my last fight, one of the UFC owners flew in a private chef from Sao Paulo to Rio de Janeiro so that he could make me hot wings, because there are no hot wings in Rio! That’s how important they are to me,” said Rousey.

“I eat about 50 hot wings. I love hot wings.”

Not only is the most famous fighter in the world competitive in the Octagon, but she’s just as fierce when it come to her food.

“Do you let other people eat them, too?” asked Peretti.

“The thing is, you’ve got to let me eat a couple before anyone else has any, because otherwise I’ll start eating faster. It’s a race to see who can eat the most. I’m so competitive, I even compete with hot wings,” said Rousey.

The bout Rousey was referring to was her clash with Bethe Correia in the Brazilian capital in August this year, a fight she won in just 34 seconds.

The bantamweight champion was always destined for a career where her fists were her prize assets, telling Peretti she honed her fighting skills as a schoolgirl on the streets of Santa Monica, California.

“Santa Monica didn’t used to be so nice. After school, my friend and I would go to the Promenade, where a lot of shady characters hung out. I loved frappuccinos, but I only got $5 a day for lunch.

“If I ate, that meant I didn’t have enough money for a frappuccino. So we would go over to these kids and say, ‘I bet you $10 I could beat up any one of you,’” said Rousey.

“There were always some guys who could use the money. We’d fight and I’d do something to get them to give up, and they’d give us $10 and we’d go get frappuccinos...That was, like, my side gig for a little while.”

A strong believer in encouraging society to accept women of all body types, the American’s appearance on the cover of the lifestyle magazine is another positive step in her efforts to redefine traditional notions of femininity.

She coined the term “Do Nothing B****” (DNB) in reference to women who rely on their looks and other people to get by in life, and released a T-shirt earlier this year with the phrase “Don’t be a DNB” emblazoned on it as a way of encouraging women to embrace their bodies, regardless of shape and size.

In an interview with the New York Times this month, she also said: “I swear to God, if anyone calls me fat one more time in my life, I’m going to kill them.”

Rousey will be looking to extend her career winning streak to 13 when she comes to Australia for her fight against Holly Holm at UFC 193 on November 15.
