Tyrone Roberts signs for Gold Coast Titans from Warrington Wolves

GOLD Coast footy fans are rejoicing in the wake of the Titans announcing Tyrone Roberts will re-join the NRL club next year.

GOLD Coast footy fans are rejoicing in the wake of the Titans announcing Tyrone Roberts will re-join the NRL club next year.

Roberts played 41 games across seasons 2016 and 2017, forming a tight-knit halves partnership with Ash Taylor.

He departed the club last October to link up with English Super League outfit Warrington on a three-year deal but cut that stint short to return home.

The Ballina junior was yesterday confirmed on a two-year deal that will see him back in Titans colours until the end of 2020.

The news was met with a wave of positive reactions from fans on social media.

Titans coach Garth Brennan said the veteran of 138 NRL games will bring plenty of experience and versatility with him.

“Tyrone is a very good half but will also add that real utility value to our squad and the fact he can play six, seven, nine or one makes him such a valuable commodity to have,” he said.

“He’s played a number of representative matches and has been a seasoned NRL player for well over five years so he knows what it takes to compete at the top.

“Tyrone’s been part of a successful club overseas who just qualified for the Challenge Cup final at Wembley so the experience he has gained in his short time over in England will be extremely valuable to bring back to our young squad.

“He has many friends still at the club and I know he’ll settle back in without any issues.”

Gold Coast chief executive Graham Annesley added Roberts had proven to be a popular figure at Parkwood.

“Tyrone offers great value, bringing all the skills and ability of an experienced NRL player,” Annesley said.

“He was also a very popular member of the squad during his previous two-year stint with the Titans so it’s great to have him back on-board next season.”

The Titans will take on under-siege Penrith tomorrow at Cbus Super Stadium.
