Titans prop Sam Lisone has signed a two-year contract extension with the club

A new recruit has signed a two-year contract extension just a few months after joining the club from the New Zealand Warriors.

TITANS prop Sam Lisone has signed a two-year contract extension just a few months after joining the club from the New Zealand Warriors.

WHY TITANS’ TAYLOR STILL HAS A WAY TO GO

The 26-year-old was granted a release from his New Zealand contract in February following speculation Lisone and Warriors coach Stephen Kearney hadn’t always seen eye-to-eye.

Lisone made only 11 appearances in each of the last two seasons at the club, all of them from the interchange bench, and attracted interest from several NRL clubs before signing with the Titans as an apt replacement for injured front-row veteran Ryan James.

Now just four games and one win into his Titans career, the Samoan has pledged to help the struggling club return to the finals stage once more.

“I came here for one year, worked hard and now I’ve earned myself two more years which I’m pretty happy about and I’m stoked to be part of a good club,” Lisone said.

“I looked at the team before signing and I want to be here for a while and work hard to bring success to the club.

“I want to be part of that success when it does come.”

THE SECRET BEHIND MILLION-DOLLAR MAN’S REBIRTH

After playing in his first Titans win, a 28 – 23 triumph against the Wests Tigers on Sunday, Lisone believes the team have taken the first step on the journey to restoring “pride in the jersey.”

“I’m enjoying my footy under Justin and learning a lot,” he said.

“We’ve been working really hard and I know it hasn’t been showing but it did show this weekend just gone so hopefully we can back that up.”

Lisone said he was also looking forward to building further front-row chemistry with 20-year-old prop Moeaki Fotuaika as he continues to solidify his spot at positions eight and ten.

“I’m trying to put my best foot forward for the team,” Lisone said.

“He (Fotuaika) optimises the club values and he’s the youngest forward but he’s leading the way for us so we want to jump on the back of that.”
