AS the Gold Coast Titans turn their attention to Friday night’s home clash with the New Zealand Warriors, the Bulletin looks at five burning questions from yesterday’s upset of the Broncos.
WHERE IS THE CONSISTENCY?
The Titans entered Round 13 with just three wins but defied their poor run to dispose of the Broncos 26-18 at Suncorp Stadium.
But the fans must be wondering why they can’t produce those kinds of performances more regularly.
All four victories this season – over Penrith, Newcastle, Manly and Brisbane – have been impressive but a lack of consistency remains.
CAN THEY BACK IT UP?
The NRL can be a tipster’s nightmare and few would predict the result of the Titans’ Friday night battle with the Warriors with much confidence.
Both sides have just four wins for the season but can match it with anyone on their day.
The Warriors are notoriously unpredictable and the Titans must be wary of the bounce-back factor after the Kiwi outfit was humbled 32-10 by Melbourne on Saturday.
WAS ASHLEY TAYLOR’S ABSENCE A BLESSING IN DISGUISE?
With Ashley Taylor last week taking an indefinite break from the game to deal with personal issues, Ryley Jacks stepped into the halfback hotseat and performed his role to aplomb.
The 27-year-old will again be in the driving seat against the Warriors and if his form holds, Taylor’s eventual return could give coach Garth Brennan a welcome headache.
HOW MANY GAMES DOES TYRONE PEACHEY HAVE LEFT AS A TITAN?
Speculation continues to mount big-money recruit Tyrone Peachey will be released back to Penrith in the coming weeks, just six months after arriving on the Glitter Strip.
The 27-year-old, whose Coast stint has been largely underwhelming, may even have played his last game as a Titan.
WHAT HAPPENS TO MICHAEL GORDON?
AJ Brimson’s stunning form at fullback has created a conundrum for Brennan when Michael Gordon returns from a blood clot in his leg.
While the 35-year-old is unlikely to be back before next month, he could find himself shunted to the wing – or even worse, the Intrust Super Cup.
