Jarryd Hayne faces over a month on sidelines following ankle injury against Knights

THE TITANS’ injury woes have worsened with Jarryd Hayne facing more than a month on the sidelines after suffering an ankle injury in the Gold Coast’s horror loss to Newcastle.

JARRYD Hayne is facing more than a month on the sidelines after suffering an ankle injury in the Gold Coast’s horror loss to Newcastle.

Hayne is awaiting scans on his injured ankle, but the initial diagnosis is worrying for the Titans’ star fullback.

Hayne suffered a suspected syndesmosis injury. The severity of it will be revealed by scans, however he will be out of action for at least four weeks.

DALEY: Hayne still in the mix for Blues

There are fears Hayne could be looking at upwards of six weeks off the field.

The injury is a major blow to the Titans who have had a terrible start to the season and they will be hoping Hayne’s prognosis is more positive.

They became the first team to lose an NRL game to Newcastle in 335 days on Saturday, falling 34-26 to the Knights.

The Titans also lost Anthony Don and Karl Lawton to dislocated shoulders during the game.

The Gold Coast’s casualty ward already included Nathan Peats (shoulder), Dan Sarginson (knee), Ryan Simpkins (ribs), Pat Politoni (broken arm), John Olive (torn pec), Daniel Vidot (groin) and William Zillman (calf).

Titans coach Neil Henry is scraping the bottom of the barrel for players just two weeks into the season.

Hayne will not play against former club Parramatta on Friday at Cbus Super Stadium, robbing the game of its major drawcard.
