SOUTH Sydney is far from one big happy family following a training camp at Russell Crowe’s sprawling property in Coffs Harbour.
Some words of advice from the Hollywood actor didn’t go down well with certain players, particularly in an over-25s pub Crowe has on site.
There is a state of flux in their halves.
While Souths denied ever seeking to offload Adam Reynolds, he’s had serious discussions in the past with the Warriors, Penrith and Canberra on the basis he’d get an early release from his contract, which expires at the end of 2017.
Halfback Luke Keary continues to be linked to a move to Gold Coast Titans, who have lost Kane Elgey for the season due to knee injury.
But Keary is signed until the end of 2016 and Souths are now unlikely to release either player at this late stage.
What is making things interesting is the pre-season form of Cody Walker, who is blitzing his rivals.
Walker is a real chance of starting at five-eighth this season, which would impact Reynolds’ value if he goes on the open market.
