ST GEORGE ILLAWARRA are sweating on the fitness of star players Josh Dugan and Benji Marshall as the Dragons’ slim finals hopes swing in the balance.
A big win over the Titans on Sunday kept the Dragons in the hunt for one of the last spots in the finals, but minor ankle injuries to Marshall and Dugan could make or break their season, with a five-day break and a tough road trip to Brisbane to contend with in round 25.
The Bulldogs will have to do without fullback Sam Perrett in Thursday night’s blockbuster against the Rabbitohs after he suffered a rib injury against a Tigers side whose misery was compounded by a hamstring injury to young gun Luke Brooks.
Other finals contenders got through round 24 unscathed, with Penrith to be boosted by the return of star hooker James Segeyaro after he was given compassionate leave to fly to Papua New Guinea after his father died on the weekend.
Melbourne too will get a boost with Jesse Bromwich to come back into the side after missing the Storm’s Monday night win over the Panthers due to the birth of his second child.
