SuperCoach POD Watch Round 25: Who can win you a title?

FORMER SuperCoach champion Dave Von Kotze looks at 10 players who could carry you to finals glory.

AS we head towards Round 25 Dave ‘VK’ Von Kotze takes a look at the men pulling big numbers but low ownership.

Mitchell Pearce ($362,700/1.3 per cent ownership)

Although Mitchell Pearce has been battling a calf injury for the past fortnight his SuperCoach scores continue to roll along nicely. If he can keep that “baby cow” injury in check then he has the ability to be a POD for the final two games after setting up nine tries in his past five games to sit with a five-game average of 70. Pearce will rise in price by nearly $25,000 this week and can be picked up in the HFB position for just over $385,000.

Michael Morgan ($296,800/4.3 per cent ownership)

Morgan has the added bonus of dual 5/8/FLB flexibility and has produced over the past two weeks, scoring a try and notching three try assists to deliver scores of 71 and 90. He is the cheapest option of the halves mentioned today with an expected price of just over $315,000 but his run home sees him come up against two top-eight teams in the form of the Bulldogs and the Titans.

Cody Walker ($362,800/8.7 per cent ownership)

A regular starter in POD Watch during the back half of the season, Walker can’t be left out again this week considering he will finish the season against the Knights (A) and then the Bulldogs (H). Walker has been an absolute livewire in attack and has produced plenty of attacking stats to maintain an impressive 12-game average of 70 since round 11. The dual HFB/5/8 can be brought into your team this week for around $365,000.

Mitchell Moses ($407,500/3.4 per cent ownership)

Mitchell Moses has developed into a brilliant footballer this year and in future years he will sit in a great deal more than just three per cent of teams if he continues with the form that he has shown throughout this season. Moses has been in a class of his own, scoring a try and setting up eight in his past five games where he has held together a very tidy five-game average of 81. His price will see a $10,000 bump in the right direction this week and he will be available for just over $415,000 prior to round 25. The Tigers don’t have the easiest of runs home taking on the Warriors away this weekend and then finishing the season at home against the Raiders.

David Nofoaluma ($432,600/2 per cent ownership)

David Nofoaluma is the most expensive of the CTW options for this week, coming in at just over $450,000, but with good reason having averaged 83 in his past five games. Last Friday’s game against the Panthers was the first game in five in which he has not scored a try but he still managed to post 64 points. His unbelievably low ownership can’t be ignored but neither can the fact that he has a tough final two games against the Warriors and Raiders.

Blake Ferguson ($309,700/6.1 per cent ownership)

In a point of difference paradox Fergo just keeps on leading the way from the back for the Red, White and Bluesters, going on a sensational run in his past five games where he has scored four tries, set up five and made four line breaks. Fergo gave his breakeven of 56 a good old fashioned whoopin’ and will be available for just over $350,000 leading into round 25. Even though the Roosters have found a bit of late-season form their run home isn’t favourable coming up against the Sharks (A) and the Broncos (A) and this has to be taken into account when using precious last trades.

Semi Radradra ($350,600/7.9 per cent ownership)

It’s been a while since Semi Radradra has featured in POD Watch but at around $315,000 this week SuperCoaches may opt to call upon the “Semi-trailer” again in the hope that he can bring them head-to-head glory. He looms as one of the POD options of the week considering he takes on the Dragons and the Warriors in the final two rounds of the competition where he has averaged 87 and 68 respectively against those teams.

Daniel Tupou ($330,600/2 per cent ownership)

In a similar fashion to last year Tupou is coming home and finishing the season with a wet sail, scoring three tries over the past three weeks to deliver scores of 62, 78 and 109 for an average of 83. He smashed his break-even by 80 points which will see his value grow in excess of $40,000 this week and will leave him with a price tag somewhere around the $370,000 mark when he takes on the Sharks this weekend.

Konrad Hurrell ($337,300/12.6 per cent ownership)

Hurrell may have been a bit quieter from a SuperCoach perspective in rounds 22 and 23 but he is still sitting with a five-game average of 70 and has shown in the other three games that he can go large on any given day against any opposition — which could make him the exact weapon of choice needed when using our last trades. The “Hurrell-cane” scored 76 on Saturday with no tries or try assists but also has a difficult run home against the Panthers (H) and the Cowboys (A). He can be brought into our final teams this week for around $330,000.

Ryan James ($397,700/13.7 per cent ownership)

Ryan James has hands down been the POD of the year and still sits just in POD range despite being well in the mix to be the overall highest pointscorer in SuperCoach for 2016. James has only averaged 52 minutes a game in his past three. But who needs big minutes when he’s scoring tries at will, crashing over for three in his past three games to maintain a three-game average of 87. His price will be somewhere over $425,000 for those looking to enlist his services for the final two games.
