SuperCoach NRL draft 2025 consensus rankings: Experts best picks overall and at every position

To help you pick the right players on draft night, our experts have ranked their top players to come up with the 2025 consensus SuperCoach Draft rankings.

SuperCoach NRL Podcast: Hot Takes Special

The NRL season is less than two weeks away, and if SuperCoach Draft players haven’t already prematurely done so, they are preparing for their big day.

The early rounds of the drafts should be reserved only for taking the best of the best, and, if possible, filling the key low depth spine positions with a few guns in the process.

It is definitely no time to be playing silly buggers and grabbing your favourite player, or someone you think is in for a big year. Make sure you play it safe and grab the guys who have proven themselves as SuperCoach guns.

To help you pick the right players on draft night, our experts have ranked their top players overall and at every position to come up with the 2025 consensus SuperCoach Draft rankings.

OVERALL RANKINGS

HOOKER RANKINGS

Wilson says: Harry Grant is by far the best hooker in SuperCoach and the obvious No.1. I am really big on Max Plath this year, and while I like Connor Watson I think the Roosters are in for a down year and he may suffer. While the hooker position is pretty top heavy, there are some decent options you can get later on in the draft if you miss out on one of the top options, but don’t wait too long.

Rob says: Harry Grant started slow and finished hot in 2024 which I loved because plenty sold him too early. The best hooker in the game. Connor Watson will get through loads of work in the middle and has the flair to pick up attacking stats too. Koroisau isn’t a worker, but he’s crafty and should be kicking goals too. I fear Cook/Randall and Plath/Marshall-King will poach minutes and points off each other. If one of either pair got injured then the remainder would shoot up my ranks.

Sangster says: Harry Grant is the obvious stud. But from there it’s clear as mud. Connor Watson has an increased role due to the injury to Brandon Smith (ACL), plus has handy dual position, so I’ve ranked him second. I also have Jeremy Marshall-King well ahead of most after an injury-affected season, while Damien Cook’s trial form has been good enough to convince me he should be ranked relatively high even with Jacob Liddle as competition for minutes. I have Max Plath far lower than many after being named on an edge for the final trial.

FRF RANKINGS

Wilson says: Payne Haas is hands down the most consistent prop in SuperCoach, but Addin Fonua-Blake is my No.1 pick at the position because he simply has a ceiling that no other front rower has. Terrell May looks in for a massive year at the Tigers, while Max Plath and Josh Curran are coming off career best seasons at the Bulldogs. Tino Fa’asuamaleaui has some risk but has a massive ceiling and can be nabbed later in the draft than usual.

Rob says: No prop has Payne Haas’ motor and he just needs to be injury free to top the ranks. Terrell May should get all the minutes he can handle at the Tigers and has great offload game. Smith will blossom with Fish away, Leo Thomspon is a prop on the up and Junior Paulo needs to step up after RCG left.

Sangster says: Tough position. There are always question marks over minutes at FRF but that issue doesn’t exist for Joe Tapine, so I have him No. 1. Addin Fonua-Blake is on the record saying he will play less minutes so I’ve dropped him down the list.

2RF RANKINGS

Wilson says: Despite being down on the Roosters in 2025 Angus Crichton is my top ranked 2RF after finishing 2024 as one of the best forwards in rugby league. David Fifita has the highest ceiling at the position but does have some risk, while Isaah Yeo is one of the most consistent backrowers in SuperCoach. Pat Carrigan also has some risk, and I fear what a potential move to the front row does for his minutes.

Rob says: Left out plenty who could easily finish top five in the deepest position in the game. Fifita’s explosiveness could see him top the pile by 10, his erratic play could see him finish 15th. Yeo is ultra-consistent. Koloamatangi is my big mover with Murray injury opening the door for him to own the 13 jersey.

Vossy's #1 SuperCoach player to pick

Sangster says: Keaon Koloamatangi is the buzz player following the injury to Cameron Murray (Achilles). Hopefully he can score the lock position at South Sydney. David Fifita would be frustrating as hell for a Titans fan but his SuperCoach claims are undeniable.

HFB RANKINGS

Wilson says: Nathan Cleary, Jahrome Hughes and Nicho Hynes are all first round picks to me, before a massive tier drop. Daly Cherry-Evans is still one of the best but showed massive regression in 2024 for SuperCoach purposes. Dylan Brown and Jarome Luai gaining dual position status is great for halves depth, but may see them drafted earlier than you’d like.

Rob says: Cleary just needs to stay healthy to top this group. Am tipping Hynes to run more in 2025 and retain the kicking duties. He does that he should average 80/95PPG. Think Hughes has to revert a little from his huge 2024 numbers and a healthy Munster will poach off him. Adam Reynolds is one I have tipped to make a fast start. Duffy is there as a fly

Sangster says: Cleary is a popular No. 1 pick and it’s hard to argue. Back at his favoured five-eighth position instead of halfback, I have Dylan Brown higher than many due to his dual position. He’s also playing for a contract which usually brings the best out in players. I’m worried about Nichio losing the goal kicking at the Sharks. Conversely, Braydon Trindall is the sleeper if he kicks goals. Jamal Fogarty is an extremely solid late option if you miss out on the top halves.

5/8 RANKINGS

Wilson says: While he is coming off an injury plagued season in 2024, Cameron Munster is still the best 5/8 in SuperCoach for me, with Dylan Brown a close second, albeit with a much higher floor. Lachlan Galvin was a revelation for the Tigers, but can he keep it up with Luai at the club? I was big on Tom Dearden last year but he was a bit too inconsistent for my liking, while Ben Hunt’s move to the Broncos intrigues me. After that the drop off is pretty substantial, but there is some value to be had in the mid-rounds with players like Luke Metcalf or Kaeo Weekes.

Rob says: Munster had a bad year with injuries last year and paid the price. His pre-season has been interrupted but I’m expecting him to improve dramatically if the booze ban holds. Brown is ultra-reliable. Metcalf I love with the kicking duties. Galvin is a gun, could easily finish top here but think Luai poaches points. Cody Walker is one I expect to start strong as without Latrell he owns that attack.

Sangster says: For the reasons mentioned above, I just can’t go past Dylan Brown. I’m worried about Munster’s recent injury history so I’m very happy for him to be taken early while I concentrate on value.

CTW RANKINGS

Wilson says: Zac Lomax is coming off a career best year and looks set to take over the goal kicking duties at Parramatta so is my No.1 CTW. I am concerned about Val Holmes’ move to the Dragons but he should still keep the goal kicking duties. Herbie and To’o are coming off great years, while I am a bit down on Garrick after seeing him play at centre last year. Jacob Kiraz is a bit down my ratings given the uncertainty over his injury but I think is still worth drafting.

Rob says: Goalkickers up the top thanks to those bonus points. To’s is a machine. Mulitalo will score heaps of tries. RTS will get through mountains of work now he’s back on the wing and score plenty of tries too. Expecting a bounce back from Marzooooooo and Casey McLean to score a bunch of tries too.

SuperCoach NRL is a rollercoaster

Sangster says: Lomax is going far too highly in mock drafts for my liking. I expect a significant drop in output following the switch back to centre. Reuben Garrick (with goal kicking) and Brian To’o (great base and in a great attacking side) are the top options for me. Too many sleepers to mention including Dane Gagai, Kayal Iro and Dylan Lucas.

FULLBACK RANKINGS

Wilson says: Latrell Mitchell’s injury has seen him plummet down my rankings, but I think is still worth drafting if you can get him at good value, which I think is likely considering how many fullbacks will be taken in the first two rounds of the draft. Jayden Campbell and Keano Kini intrigue me but the Titans do have the round one bye and based on what I’ve seen in my drafts I think you can wait on them. If you do miss out on one of the standout guns there are a heap of fullbacks you can get in the mid to late rounds. If you are in a 10-12 person league I am confident you will be able to get a startable fullback.

Rob says: Have Drinkwater up high here for his consistency. Think he will miss the strike of Holmes, but if he picks up the goalkicking then he could finish on top. Turbo is one you have to get if you can, no player has his ceiling. None. Reece Walsh scares me whenever I don’t own him. Can go quiet and then suddenly scores 50 points in 5 minutes. Dylan Edwards is another who could finish on top if he does much goalkicking but I think Penrith rest him around Origin.

Sangster says: The Latrell Mitchell injury has shaken up the position but realistically it’s hard to go wrong in such a strong position. Keano Kini and Jahream Bula offer late-round value.
