SuperCoach analysis: Winners and losers from Bulldogs v Titans, Eels v Tigers
An MCL injury to Matt Burton is the big SuperCoach watch from a topsy-turvy day of NRL action. TOM SANGSTER’S full wrap.
An MCL injury to Matt Burton is the big SuperCoach watch from a topsy-turvy day of NRL action.
Other talking points include the incredible ACL comeback of Tino Fa’asuamaleaui and a Gallen/Parker-like performance from Terrell May.
Tom Sangster’s full wrap below.
BULLDOGS V TITANS
Winners
* Tino Fa’asuamaleaui (100) - Those who weathered the round 1 bye were vindicated. You’d have no idea he was making a NRL return from an ACL injury. A try, 35 tackles and seven tackle busts.
* Beau Fermor (74) - Only owned by two per cent but has handy dual position flexibility between 2RF and CTW. Sneaky POD.
* Viliame Kikau (75) - Barnstorming performance given he was only cleared of a back injury late in the week, but ended with a knee injury.
Losers
* Matt Burton (47) - Was on his way to a big score but went down in the 27th minute with an MCL injury. The Bulldogs say he will miss “at least four weeks”.
* David Fifita (31) - Named on the bench and only played 32 minutes.
* Jayden Campbell (35), AJ Brimson (36) - The attacking aces were kept in check by the Canterbury defence and just couldn’t get into the game.
EELS V TIGERS
Winners
* Terrell May (90) – A score like this in pure base brings back memories of when Paul Gallen and Corey Parker ruled SuperCoach. 48 per cent of SuperCoaches still don’t own him.
* Lachlan Galvin (105) – Combined beautifully with the Tigers’ new-look spine and came out the equal winner on the stats sheet with a try and two try assists.
* Jahream Bula (105) – Great return from appendix surgery, going point for point with Galvin.
* Adam Doueihi (67) – Nice reward for those who played him (Sangster’s Paradise among them) with the Tigers’ left humming all afternoon.
Losers
* Jarome Luai (21) – Combined well as the Tigers produced some great attack, but couldn’t get into the big stats.
* Isaiah Iongi (21) – Was strong in actual NRL, including some great defensive plays (see below). But they count for next to nothing in SuperCoach.
* Dylan Brown (34) – The Knights will be asking for their money back.
* Royce Hunt (24) – The top prop cheapie in SuperCoach just isn’t getting the minutes or workrate.
* J’Maine Hopgood (46) – Didn’t disgrace himself (he was the only chaser on one of the Tigers’ tries) but 46 in 64 minutes isn’t what owners are looking for.
