Sharks superstar Nicho Hynes stunning superyacht move
NRL playmaker Nicho Hynes has plenty to celebrate leading into the 2026 season, dropping a huge personal reveal over the weekend.
Star NRL player Nicho Hynes proposed to his girlfriend, Piper Wallis over the weekend while cruising around Sydney Harbour.
Taking to social media to share their news, they posted footage of the special moment.
Hynes popped the question on-board a superyacht, which passed by the Opera House and Harbour Bridge as he got down on one knee.
“Us, forever” they captioned the shared Instagram video alongside the date – 29.11.25.
It had Days Like These by Luke Combs playing over the top.
Both wore white, and embraced as Wallis accepted her ring.
Fans were thrilled for the couple, sharing their love in the comments.
“So beautiful! Congratulations,” wrote former Bachelorette star Brooke Blurton.
“Congrats guys!” shared Jayden Brailey, a fellow NRL player for the Newcastle Knights.
According to The Daily Telegraph, the couple went public with their relationship at last year’s Dally M Awards, where they walked the carpet together.
Rumours were already swirling though, with Wallis having been spotted with Hynes’ mother, Julie, at a few Sharks games.
The social media manager is five years younger than Hynes, who has previously dated both Marlee Silva and Morgan Belier.
Despite their low-key romance, Wallis did take to social media to celebrate their one-year anniversary.
Her following post featured pictures of the pair holding a baby together, leading a few fans to comment their confusion.
“How did you hide a whole pregnancy?” one inquired.
“Oh, a baby suits you guys” another wrote.
Nicho Hynes currently plays for the Cronulla Sharks as a halfback.
He was initially signed to the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles NRL Under-20s team in 2015, and spent two seasons with the Mackay Cutters.
He signed with the Melbourne Storm in 2019, and would go on to be named on the bench in the 2020 NRL Grand Final.
This made him the first player in the NRL to be chosen in a grand final but go on to not play a single minute.
He joined the Sharks ahead of 2022, going on to win the Dally M Medal for Player of the Year the same year.
As for this year, Hynes and the Sharks made the preliminary finals but were defeated by the Melbourne Storm 22-14.
Hynes is committed to the Sharks until 2029, and has currently played 91 games with the team.
