FOUNDATION Titans captain Scott Prince has opened up on his split from the Gold Coast as he starts his latest chapter in the game as an NRLW assistant coach.
Prince left the Titans following the 2012 season, playing his final year in Brisbane with the Broncos — the club at which he is an assistant coach for the inaugural women’s NRL team.
And while he is thoroughly enjoying his time at Brisbane, where he also works with the Beyond the Broncos Girls Academy with young indigenous women, Prince remains a proud Gold Coaster who still hopes to see the Titans thrive.

“I look at the first four years (at the Titans) as probably the best times of my footy career,” Prince said.
“To be part of a brand new club, a new franchise and build a new culture, not many people get that opportunity as a player, so that was certainly an attraction to come here.”
Prince was essentially squeezed out of the Titans when the club refused to extend his contract past 2013, with his exit from the Coast handled poorly.
“I guess the way it finished wasn’t ideal,” he said.
“This is a club that I loved and I wanted to be here and be part of the furniture whether it was from a coaching point of view or even just some sort of help in and around mentoring the young kids coming through.
“But unfortunately that’s life and things happen and I’ve moved on from it now. I still have a soft spot for the Titans and want to see them succeed.
“But I’m quite happy up the road doing what I do in community with the Broncos.
“We’ve got a really good group of people who are passionate and love what we do with the Broncos program and the girls academy.”
But Prince still regards his time at the Titans as a “wonderful part of my career”.
“The sad thing is I never really got an opportunity to thank the sponsors and fans when it all went down,” he said.
“That’s probably the hardest thing about it all is that I never really had closure on it when I wanted to say thank you to everyone that played a role in my time here — and still do today because I still call the Gold Coast home. I never really had that chance to say goodbye and say thank you to all sponsors, to all members who built the club and that have stuck by them even today.
“They’ve been through some hardships and some testing times but it’s just great to see that they’re still holding together and one day they’ll get that elusive premiership.”
