Preparations for Canterbury’s inaugural NRLW season have descended into chaos with the club to part ways with head coach Blake Cavallaro.
The Bulldogs are set to confirm the surprise move in the coming days, months out from the start of the NRLW season.
This was to be Cavallaro’s first season in the role after his appointment was announced in May last year, covering the head coaching position as well as the overall female pathways at the Bulldogs.
He previously spent 12 years at various roles at the Sydney Roosters in pathways, wellbeing, development, coaching talent and participation.
A search has already started for his immediate replacement as the club attempts to put their 2025 plans back on track.
It comes at a time that should be exciting for the Bulldogs ahead of their inaugural NRLW season.
The Bulldogs are one of two new clubs in an expanded NRLW in 2025, joining the Warriors in a 12-team competition.
The NRLW season is set to kick off in July, with pre-season starting in May.
The club worked hard to be included in the women’s competition this season, building out their programs and investing in the NSW competition.
Star halfback Tayla Preston is the club’s marquee signing, headlining an impressive line-up of players for the club’s debut season.
Raiders playmaker Ash Quinlan, Sharks recruits Andie Robinson, Teagan Dymock and Holli Wheeler, as well as Dragons guns Angelina Teakaraanga-Katoa, Alexis Tauaneai and Maatuleio Fotu-Moala have all joined for 2025.
Although some have been training at the club, most are not due to report for pre-season training until May.
The junior representatives season kicks off in February for the club’s Tarsha Gale Cup and Lisa Fiaola Cup competitions.
