NRL Dally M Awards 2024: When, how to watch, leaderboard

Plenty has changed since the voting for the Dally M went behind closed doors in round 12.

Penrith fullback Dylan Edwards was leading the count, but he missed four games after suffering a PCL injury in State of Origin Game III.

Nicho Hynes, who was running second in the count, was out of action from Round 19 to 25 after a syndesmosis rupture.

James Tedesco was equal fifth in the votes but likely surged up the leaderboard, while Storm star Jahrome Hughes (who was equal ninth on 16 votes) is a red hot favourite among experts after a stunning end to the regular season.

What is the Dally M Award?

Named after rugby league immortal Dally Messenger, the Dally M award is the most prestigious individual honour in the NRL.

Alongside the Dally M medal, a host of other awards will be handed out, including: Fullback of the Year, Winger of the Year, (two winners), Centre of the Year (two winners), Five-Eighth of the Year, Halfback of the Year, Hooker of the Year, Prop of the Year (two winners), Second Row of the Year (two winners), Lock of the Year, Coach of the Year, Captain of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Try of the Year, Tackle of the Year and more.

How does the Dally M work?

The Dally M medal is presented to the player deemed the NRL’s best and fairest. Points are awarded by a two independent judges on a 3-2-1 voting system after every game of the regular season, where players can earn a maximum of six points per match.

Points allocated for each match and the Dally M leaderboard are publicised up until round 12, where voting goes behind closed doors.

When are the Dally M Awards for 2024?

Likely date: October 2 2024

Organisers are yet to confirm the date for the highly anticipated Dally M Awards night, but given in previous years it has been held during grand final week, it is expected to be held on Wednesday, October 2.

The Dally M ceremony is exclusive to Fox League, but there are plenty of ways to watch or live stream the event.

The venue is yet to be revealed by announcers, but last year’s awards were held at Randwick Racecourse
