Dragons forward Jaydn Su’A has avoided a ban for his ugly hair pull on North Queensland’s Luciano Leilua during Sunday’s game at Kogarah.

Leilua looked set to score a barnstorming try but was stopped in his tracks when Su’A yanked on his hair.

The tackle was placed on report and the back-rower can accept an $1800 fine if he takes the early guilty plea to a grade 1 contrary conduct charge. The penalty would increase to $2500 if he fights the charge and is found guilty at the judiciary.

Cowboys lock Jason Taumalolo will also avoid suspension if he pleads guilty to a grade 1 shoulder charge during Sunday’s win that keeps North Queensland in second spot on the ladder.

Taumalolo was charged for the second time this year for the illegal shot on Blake Lawrie and will cop a $3000 fine if he takes the early guilty plea but would miss two weeks if he challenged it and lost.

If either player fights it, then they’ll join Brisbane’s Patrick Carrigan on Tuesday night after the Broncos lock was referred directly to the judiciary for his ugly hip drop tackle that has ruled Jackson Hastings out for the rest of the year.
