Talatau Amone will remain at the Dragons for at least another two years after the young half extended his stay until the end of the 2024 season.

The 20-year-old was already contracted for next season but committed to St George Illawarra for another 12 months in a big boost to their long-term plans as they also look to extend halves partner Ben Hunt.

“I am very proud to remain at the Dragons. It’s my home club and my family and I are very grateful for the opportunity,” Amone said.

“To see that the club believes in me to extend my time at the club definitely fills me with a lot of faith. I’m looking forward to repaying the Dragons back with good, consistent footy.”

Amone has set up 12 tries in 20 games this season and has looked a lot more comfortable since he locked in a starting role back in round 8.

In exciting news for Red V fans, Dragons general manager of football Ben Haran said the youngster would only get better as he gained more experience in the NRL and possibly for Tonga later this year at the World Cup.

“While Talatau has demonstrated himself as a competent NRL player over the past 18 months, there is significant scope for further improvement over the coming two seasons,” Haran said.

“Red V members, partners and fans, like everyone at the club, should be very excited to see Talatau continue his development in such a vital position at the Dragons.”
