CODY Walker, the 26-year-old NRL debutant, will re-sign with South Sydney to repay their faith.

Walker, the former Easts Tigers star, debuts at five-eighth for the Rabbitohs on Sunday, 15 months after they first signed him.

The Sunday Mail can reveal the Rabbitohs have begun negotiations to keep Walker at Redfern and while a deal won’t be formalised for several weeks the crafty playmaker isn’t going anywhere.

Walker’s manager Kim Ingebrigtsen said he had never seen his client happier.

“He loves it at Souths and doesn’t want to leave and I can’t imagine he will,” Ingebrigtsen said.

“Souths have been good to him and developed him well and now he has a chance to cement that first grade spot. They want to keep him and he wants to stay so we will work it out.”

Walker will likely sign a one-year deal with the Rabbitohs.

He is a gifted creator on the football field, who was the best player in the Intrust Super Cup during his reign at Easts when he was on the Melbourne Storm’s books.

Walker’s impending re-signing is another sign that off-contract Luke Keary could be leaving the burrow.

There is a raft of halves on the market this year, with Cooper Cronk the biggest-name player available.

Tigers duo Mitchell Moses and Luke Brooks have an option in their favour they can activate before June.

Titans halfback Kane Elgey also has an option in his favour.
