TITANS coach Justin Holbrook is keeping one eye on the transient NRL player market as he searches for the men to fill the final five spots on the club’s 30-man roster.
With each NRL squad required to lodge a contract list of at least 24 players by November 1, Gold Coast officials last week submitted a 25-man squad for 2020.
A total of 29 players must be registered by March 1, with the last spot to be filled by the end of June next year.
FORMER TITAN DEPARTS TWEED, ANOTHER STAR RULES OUT RETURN
Emerging back-rower Darius Farmer, 20, is the only change so far to the Titans’ 2019 squad and Holbrook said he and the club’s recruitment committee were happy to play the waiting game as they look to complete their list for next season.
“The good position is, we don’t have to rush into that,” Holbrook, who officially began work at the commencement of pre-season training on Monday, said.
“We have got a few months, and as we all know a lot of clubs still – as crazy as it sounds – are still chopping and changing players right up until the season starts, which does seem strange, but it happens.
“Everyone has got salary caps, so they are juggling players around. We will just keep an open eye on things like that and we have good recruitment guys in process here.”
