Melbourne Storm star Xavier Coates traumatised after stitch up

Melbourne Storm star Xavier Coates was left screaming in fear after he was the target of a merciless stitch up for a TV segment.

Coates gets 'tortured' | Fletch & Hindy

Melbourne Storm star Xavier Coates won’t be trusting Nathan Hindmarsh and Bryan Fletcher any time soon.

The loveable NRL duo, more commonly known as Fletch & Hindy, didn’t hold back in their latest on air prank as they stitched up the Storm winger.

Coates joined teammate Harry Grant, Jahrome Hughes and Will Warbrick in the latest segment on the Matty Johns show with his biggest fears being brought to the table.

The 24-year-old has previously admitted to be terrified of snakes, so naturally Fletch & Hindy decided to test that out.

“We’re not going to scare you, but we want you to take part in a little experiment,” Fletcher explained as a table draped with a black cloth was walked out holding three boxes.

With a blindfold thrown on, the boxes were uncovered with the first two containing mealworms and then giant cockroaches.

It was the third box however that set off the alarm bells with Coates knowing something was immediately up.

“Why is everyone getting up,” Coates said. “No people are getting up, please don’t put anything on me.”

After having his hand guided into the box, Coates made brief contact with the snake before screaming in fear and walking away from the desk.

As he walked off and removed his mask he turned around and realised what he’d just come into contact with.

“That was like a mouse or something … oh my god, oh no … oh it’s a snake, it’s a snake,” Coates screamed.

The reaction left the NRL larrikins and Coates’ Storm teammates in hysterics.

Coates then got a rest as his teammates stepped up to don the blindfold and put their hands into the boxes.

But it wasn’t long before Fletch & Hindy struck again, leaving Coates to show off his trademark speed and run for his life.

The Storm players sat back down in their seats, preparing to finish their interview as a huge carpet python was walked out behind them.

Coates jumped off his seat and sprinted, while Grant’s chair flew out from beneath him as he scurried away.

And away he goes.

“Please stay there, I am going to cry. Please, please, no please … please stop, I beg you. I am going to cry, I am going to cry,” Coates said.

Coates ultimately went on to overcome his fears, touching the snake before once again running for cover.

“I hate slimy stuff, I’m done, I’m done. I don’t like animals like that,” Coates said.

Thankfully for Coates there won’t be any snakes on the field when the Storm take on the South Sydney Rabbitohs at AAMI Park on Friday night.
