GOLD Coast league’s ultimate underdogs are all for a helping hand from Burleigh and Tweed talents – as long as it’s done fairly.
With the Intrust Super Cup clubs out of action for 2020 after the cancellation of the statewide competitions, it’s been touted that those 50 or so players will instead flood back into the Rugby League Gold Coast first grade competition.

That sounds good in theory to Ormeau, who have won a handful of games across the past three seasons, including going without a victory from July, 2016 to April, 2019.
Despite the prospect of fielding players who have been in NRL systems, Shearers president John Coulter isn’t getting carried away yet.
TRIBUTES FLOW FOR COAST ATHLETE
“Yes, we’re all for it (loaning out players). The main thing is they have to share them around evenly,” he said.
“We don’t want all the best players at the one club and that has been a problem over the years.
“You can’t just have 10 or 15 go to one club, that’s just unfair.
“It’s been talked about before but never really done. If they do it this time hopefully they do it properly.”
Coulter admitted Ormeau needed a helping hand given they are still new to the senior ranks.
“We’re at the northern Gold Coast and newer to seniors and it’s taken a bit of building, sponsorship has been hard,” he said.
