THE Warriors have been dealt an injury blow with Tohu Harris and Bunty Afoa both ruled out for at least the next month.

Harris limped off in the final minute of last week’s loss to the Sharks with a meniscus tear in his left knee.

The star backrower will miss 4-6 weeks and will require surgery.

Samoan international Afoa will also miss some time after he dislocated his left elbow.

He’s expected to face six weeks on the sidelines.

With Leivaha Pulu still sidelined, Simon Mannering is expected to slot in at second row for the New Zealanders.

NRL CASUALTY WARD ROUND 16

• Newcastle’s Slade Griffin is out for the season. “The injury to Griffin includes a ruptured ACL graft, ruptured lateral ligament and torn lateral meniscus. He will undergo an ACL reconstruction in the coming weeks. Griffin will undergo 9-12 months of rehab.” It is Griffin’s fourth ACL injury.

• The Broncos lost Tevita Panagi Jnr (rib cartilage) and Joe Ofahengaue (virus) pre-game. Ofahengaue’s illness is not considered serious and he is available for the upcoming game. Pangai is expected back next week. “Tevita was still not really comfortable with what can be a very painful injury,” Broncos’ medico Jeremy Hickmans said. “We would rather give it another week to heal than have the problem hang around for the rest of the season.” Andrew McCullough suffered a dislocated finger. He played on and was named for Origin III. However, the injury is re-occurring and may require surgery at end of season.

• Viliame Kikau is expected to be cleared of a serious knee injury. The Fijian representative was in severe pain after the game after copping Manly rookie Manase Fainu’s head to his knee, but Panthers coach Anthony Griffin is optimistic it’s not a long-term injury. “Hopefully it’s just a really bad cork on the top of the knee,” Griffin said. “He caught a guy’s head as you would’ve seen on the vision. The doctors are pretty optimistic there’s no structural damage — he’s just got a really heavy bump. He’s in a bit of pain there, so we’ll have to assess him over the next couple of days.”

• Sea Eagles playmaker Dylan Walker suffered a knee injury in his first game back from six weeks out with a fractured eye socket. “Not too sure [how bad the injury is],” Manly coach Trent Barrett said. “He had to come off, so it’s not too good.” Winger Matt Wright succumbed to an AC joint injury in his shoulder when he spectacularly dived to score a try early in the second half. Jorge Taufua (cut) was a pre-game withdrawal.

• Warriors forward Tohu Harris left the field with a suspected MCL injury. Bunty Afoa failed to finish with a suspected dislocated elbow.

• Canberra’s Joseph Tapine left the field due to a heavy concussion. Jack Wighton was ruled out pre-game after pleading guilty in court to assault charges.

• Ben Matulino failed to pull up from an injury last match and was a pre-game withdrawal for the Tigers. “Matulino suffered an injury against the Raiders and it has been slow to respond this week,” the club said. “With the bye next week, the club has erred on the side of caution.”

• Storm backrower Felise Kaufusi failed to back up from Origin due to an ankle complaint but has made the Maroons squad for game III.

• Roosters forward Mitch Aubusson was a late withdrawal due to a hamstring injury. Victor Radley will miss a game unless he fights a dangerous contact charge and wins.

• Dragons forward Tyson Frizell was rested following Origin due to concussion, while Leeson Ah Mau was rested following the Denver Test.

• Canterbury rookie Jeremy Marshall-King (dangerous throw) can escape suspension with an early guilty plea.

• South Sydney forward Jason Clark (dangerous contact) is set to miss a game for contact on Jason Taumalolo. North Queensland’s Shaun Fensom (dangerous throw) and Wests Tigers’ Michael Chee-Kam (dangerous contact) can each escape bans with early guilty pleas.
