The Broncos have been accused of a cover up after failing to confess star teenager Selwyn Cobbo missed training on Monday to attend court.
The media who attended Brisbane’s training at Red Hill asked where Cobbo was and were told he was away for personal reasons.

The club then released a statement at 5.24pm stating that Cobbo had been fined $700 and disqualified from driving for six months due to road offences.
The sequence of events saw veteran NRL reporter Ben Dobbin blast the Broncos on Triple M on Monday night.
“Selwyn Cobbo, he wasn’t at training today and the Broncos when we inquired where he was actually said he was away at Cherbourg for personal reasons,” Dobbin said.
“Well the personal reasons, and this is where the Broncos upset me more than anything, they deceive when they could have told the truth, they ducked around it.
“I’m telling you right now the Broncos ducked around today and lied to the media. The truth is Selwyn Cobbo was in court today.
“He’s been disqualified from driving for six months and fined $700 with no conviction recorded after appearing in court on road offences.
“He was charged driving an unregistered vehicle, uninsured vehicle while on a suspended licence. Now the Broncos, rightly so, informed the integrity unit. Cobbo surprise, surprise said I know I’ve done the wrong thing and I take full responsibility, blah blah we’ve heard this all before. (Broncos CEO) Dave Donaghy, he’s acknowledged he’s made an error.
“This is becoming a pattern and I’m sick of it, I really am. These young blokes who are privileged to be in the positions they are go and behave like this and we (media) get on a goose chase. It’s just stupidity.”
The Broncos are eighth on the ladder after an impressive 5-4 start to the season. They host Manly on Friday night in Magic Round at Suncorp Stadium.
“I know I’ve done the wrong thing and I take full responsibility for that mistake. I’ll learn from this and I will strive to make better choices in the future,” Cobbo said.
Donaghy added: “Selwyn has acknowledged to the club that he made an error in judgment on this occasion. Selwyn understands he will need to make better decisions in the future, particularly when it comes to complying with road safety. We will continue to support Selwyn off-field, as well as on it. The club acknowledges the importance of road safety and respecting road laws, as does Selwyn.”
