Inaugural Gold Coast Titans hooker Clint Amos kicking goals in business career

Not only did Clint Amos’ stint at the Gold Coast Titans give him the chance to represent his hometown NRL team but it set him on the path to his post-footy business career.

Legends weigh in on NRL season

NOT only did Clint Amos’ stint at the Gold Coast Titans give him the chance to represent his hometown NRL team but it set him on the path to his post-footy business career.

The Burleigh Bears junior was signed for Gold Coast’s maiden campaign in 2007 and became the first man to ever wear the No.9 for the club.

KEEBRA’S NEWEST NRL TRIO

Amos played 15 games all up that season but was limited to six appearances the following year as Nathan Friend established himself as the first choice hooker, and he rejoined the Cowboys for three more years. The Titans, though, hold a special place with him.

“I got the majority of my games at the Titans under coach (John) Cartwright,” Amos said.

“For the couple of years that we had, Friendy and I shared the role and had some good success and knocked on the door of finals.

“I learnt a lot of great skills obviously from Friendy and professionally from Scott Prince, Mat Rogers and Luke Bailey.”

WHICH TITANS TO PICK FOR SUPERCOACH

Retiring at just 28, Amos transitioned into a role as the Cowboys’ business development manager. Now aged 35, he has continued down that path as a Melbourne-based Bacardi business development executive via a connection to his Titans days.

“The national sales manager for Bacardi and the state sales manager were our major sponsor, Bacardi and XXXX or Lion Nathan, while I was on the Gold Coast,” he said.

“I was always attracted to business outside of the sport and hospitality, it speaks so many languages. The opportunity came knocking to relocate to Melbourne and I reached out to the two guys.

“So from a chance meeting in 2007 and 2008 through sponsorship of the club, fast forward 10 years and I am now working for that business.”

Amos was around business environments growing up and his parents Ian and Christine still manage the Burleigh Bears Leagues Club.

Amos and his wife Hannah were most recently known for appearing on the block, having developed a love of property design and construction while building a house in Townsville.
