‘Had everyone fooled’: NSW stars completely lose it in revealing clip

NSW coach Michael Maguire says Jarome Luai has “got everyone fooled” and a revealing video has emerged that says it all.

Jarome Luai and Joseph Suaalii are not good together.

That’s the clear take away from a video of the pair that is going viral ahead of State of Origin Game 1 at Accor Stadium on Wednesday night.

A video of the pair butchering a promo video for Channel 9 shows the pair completely losing it while trying to blurt out the words prompted by a producer behind the camera.

The hilarious video shows Suaalii barely able to speak after catching a bad case of the giggles.

You can watch the clip in the above video player.

The video starts with Luai looking down the barrel of the camera and saying, “Are you ready for Origin footy”.

Suaalii only has one line to say, but 10 takes later was still unable to spit out the words: “Watch State of Origin exclusive live and free”.

Suaalii’s case of the sillies is so bad, Luai tells the producers to put the full clip on Facebook so the whole world can see his teammate’s struggles.

“You’ve got to put all of this on Facebook, to show how immature this guy really is,” Luai said.

It’s easy to see why the clip has more than 100,000 views on the NRL on Nine page.

The video shows the calming impact Luai has had on the Roosters’ Origin debutant and Blues coach Michael Maguire has praised the Panthers playmaker for bringing the team together throughout the camp.

Luai was one of several Blues players Maguire mentioned when asked who he has been most impressed with this training camp.

“Jarome Luai, I’ve been very impressed with how he’s taken on a leadership role within the group,” Maguire said on SEN Breakfast.

Penrith legend and former NSW assistant coach Greg Alexander responded to Maguire on the show by telling a story about fans who don’t like the flashy five-eighth.

“A lot of people say that but when they meet Jarome Luai they are blown away,” Alexander said.

“I keep saying Jarome’s a family man. He’s got three kids. He doesn’t drink, he doesn’t smoke. Jarome Luai is rock solid off the field. The way he plays the game and rubs people the wrong way, but Jarome is a great person and he’s one of my favourites.

“He’s just a quality person who likes to rub people the wrong on the field. So what.”

Maguire said he had been “super impressed” by Luai’s attitude.

“He is an unreal, extraordinary human being,” he said.

“He plays the game in a certain style and I think he’s got everyone fooled with who he is as a person. What I’ve seen of him in the team, he’s an experienced man now and I think he’s grown into that role as a senior player in the team and understanding how you can really influence the people around him.

“I’ve watched him this week galvanise the squad together.”
