Titans Bromance: David Fifita and Tanah Boyd building chemistry off and on the field

FROM beach trips on days off to coffee runs between training sessions, Gold Coast Titans David Fifita and Tanah Boyd have been practically inseparable during the club’s pre-season.

FROM beach trips on days off to coffee runs between training sessions, Gold Coast Titans David Fifita and Tanah Boyd have been practically inseparable during the club’s pre-season.

The best mates were schoolboy stars on the right edge of Keebra Park’s 2017 national championship win.

After signing together at the Brisbane Broncos following school, the pair have reunited at the Titans, where they hope their chemistry can translate to the NRL stage.

”It’s awesome to have him back and be back together,” Boyd said.

“We spent a fair bit of time together all through school, and to now be back playing together is pretty special.

"Hopefully we get a chance to play on an edge together. We have that connection from school and at the moment we’re trying to build those combinations back.

“We kind of work off each other and help each other out. It’s pretty cool.”

Boyd was a trusted voice in Fifita’s ear as he weighed up his multimillion-dollar move to the Gold Coast.

“I wasn’t pressuring him too much,” he said. “I just said how good the club is and where the club is going.

“I tried to put my little bits in and at the end of the day it got him over the line so I’m happy.

“We have a young, tight-knit group and we’re going to build something special.

“Top four, top eight is what we’re going to aim for. We have expectations now and we’ve got to perform.”

TITANS RESIGN TREYMAIN SPRY

Gold Coast have re-signed Treymain Spry.

Treymain Spry is locked in for two more years, with the exciting outside-back signing a two year contact extension with the Gold Coast Titans.

The 21-year-old made his NRL debut in 2020 in Round 9 against the New Zealand Warriors and went on to play five games in his rookie season.

Spry can play both centre and wing and switched between the two positions during his starts this season.

“Treymain is a really exciting young outside back in the game and it’s great that he has extended with our club.

“He’s got so much improvement in him and it’s great that we’re going to get to work with him over the next couple of years and he’s already shown this year with a handful of first grade games that he is up to it and he is only going to get better. “It’s great news for our Club having Treymain continue with us.”
