MATT Johns could emerge as the figure that is able to get the best out of Titans’ million-dollar man Ash Taylor, with coach Garth Brennan revealing the former Blues Origin player could be engaged by the Gold Coast as a halves coach.
Johns, a key supporter of Brennan, has worked with Taylor in a few one-off sessions in the past.
But Brennan said in the absence of an experienced half joining the club next season, Johns, a renowned coach in his own right, could be engaged by the Titans to work more often with Taylor, AJ Brimson and returning utility Tyrone Roberts.

“We’ve got Tyrone coming back who’s had a good relationship with Ash in the past and AJ’s mature beyond his years, so we’ve got some quality to go alongside Ash in the halves,” Brennan said.
“Also, I’d probably look at bringing in someone who could help out Ash a bit more off the field.
“Matt Johns has come up in the past and worked a bit with Ash, so Matty (could) come on board and works a bit more with Ash.
“I know he’s got a real affiliation with the club and I know he’d be more than willing to help out where he can.
“It’s hard being based in Sydney but having someone like him around in a mentoring role would be something we could look at as well.”
